Bristol Rovers have released Cristian Montano and Northampton Zander Diamond both are exactly the types of player who I feel would be excellent here if we could get them. I fully expect Pete and Gary to bring in a number of youngsters over the summer but 2-3 proven league players are needed ideally down the spine of the team in central defence and upfront in particular.

I would not want to see Montano at Cheltenham Town.

Ruddy from Norwich would be useful in goal! He's been released too.

Montano doesn't stick around at clubs for long and his recent record is terrible and Zander Diamond is older than Downes! Adam Smith the keeper from Northampton would be worth a look.

I think his comment was in jest.

Jay O Shea and Sylvan Ebanks Blake released by Chesterfield, although O Shea finished the season at Shef Utd so I suspect he'll be in demand from L1 clubs

Thanks for leaping to my defence RCS! If we can't get Ruddy and if Hart doesn't stay in Italy we'll make do with him.

Not released but Lee Angol on the transfer list at Peterborough, would be a great signing.

I definitely feel we should be looking at players released by league one and Championship sides, the likes of Boyle and Winchester have proven this can be an effective strategy.

Bury have released some interesting players including Rob Lainton who played in goal at Wycombe. Jacob Mellis and Tom Pope also on the list. http://www.buryfc.co.uk/news/article/20 ... 06392.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

How old is Pope? He would be just the sort of signing we need in my opinion but wouldn't be cheap.

In the above it says he's been made available for transfer however I think we would do well to get him as surely North West clubs in league one will be interested and even Port Vale.

Bury must have edited it, initially Pope was on the released list. A few worth a look at there. The goalkeeping situation will be interesting.

Eastleigh have released Matt Tubbs, he always scored against us - has the poachers instinct but lately has had more clubs than Faldo. David Pipe also released

I doubt you can read too much into this & I know it states he hasn't been released but I found the following link an interesting read..... http://www.cafcpicks.com/cgi-bin/drkish ... &time=0508" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I accept The Addicks will command a decent fee but do you feel he may be a reasonable punt considering his wages would quite possibly be lower with us.... However I am sure the management team have put their feelers out on this one.

I personally wouldn't take Tubbs or McLeod here. They are entering journey men territory if not Tubbs is already. Bury released list maybe worth a look.

I mentioned this a week or two back that Dillon may be moved on at Charlton or at best will be on the bench. The challenge would be the fee, I can't imagine it would need a big one but even a small five figure fee may need to be funded outside of the playing budget right now. Either way if we get one of Scotty or Dillon I will be happy.

As for Tubbs and McLeod if they are being released by conference clubs I would be extremely disappointed if that's the limit of our ambition. The target next year is the play offs and we need 4-5 players who can improve us to get there.

Looks like Jermaine Defoe will be leaving Sunderland.

Not sure he's much of an improvement on Billy Waters, but he's got a good record at this level, so lets not rule him out.

Tubbs has been dropping down the leagues like a discarded sack of spuds from a hot air balloon. He was on loan at Sutton because not good enough for a midtable Eastleigh. I suspect he'll end up at Woking or somewhere like that unless Salford get promoted and offer him a fat cheque. His League days are behind him and he is not the type of player we need.

Cisak leaving Orient. Good keeper and would have been their player of season if he hadn't fallen out with the owner and found himself left out of the team because the owner said he had to be!

Jermaine Easter got released by Rovers but I expect Gary will go for young hungry players with a mix of experience (Davis, Winchester) for example.

Love to see Gary bring Sam Foley back home. Has Championship and League One experience with Yeovil and will provide the type of wing play we have lacked for the last five years or more.

Has Foley been released? Could be a realistic signing if so.

Dodgy ankle. Six month contract offer would be the best.Is he better than James Dayton?

This lad would be a great signing, absolutely ran the show against us in an FA youth cup game a couple of years ago, seems to have lost his way

Wycombe have released a couple of experienced pros, one of whom scored in the epic WHL cup clash.

Thompson would be a good signing to add some experienced grit to the core of the team.

Donny have made Andy Williams available for transfer. Played under Gary Johnson at Yeovil and he was in our youth team. Definitely worth a look.

I've no idea what his contract situation is and I'm probably treading a thin line here by suggesting a non league player but Roarie Deacon has had a very good year at Sutton. Would he be worth a punt?

I'm hopeful of us signing a good mix of players, young players with a point to prove coupled with 1/2 with decent FL experience and maybe even a non league rough diamond
