Can't blame him for moving up a division. Good luck to Billy!

Anybody any idea on what the undisclosed fee is likely to be?

No idea on the fee. I guess it's undisclosed because either the club don't want us to know they've accepted a pittance for our Energizer bunny/player of the season, or Northampton don't want it known in case their fans think they may have overpaid for someone that runs down blind alleys and only scores 3/10 chances from 10 yards out.

Good luck to him, I heard he was close to joining FGR so this is a much better move and I hope he can cut it up there.

In response to Red Duke, I haven't heard any thing reliable on the fee but I would guess it's small, perhaps £25k.

I think that fees are usually undisclosed when it's compensation aren't they? Could be wrong.

The vast majority of lower league fees are now undisclosed so clubs and agents don't go asking for more money. I suspect Wycombe asked for a fee for Scotty after hearing Billy will move for a few as an example.

Gives us the cash to facilitate that deal at least, just hope its a small fee and not all used up.

As good as Billy was, this gives Gary a chance to move on a solve the 'Billy' conundrum - was he an up-top man or a wide man? Now Gary can focus recruitment on both of those, and out the shoe horn away.

Rochdale yesterday paid 100k to Barrow for a midfielder who has never played in the league. So if we sold Billy, a player who played all last season, scored 16 goals, and won just about every end of season club award, for 25k, then we are blooming bonkers.

A player's only worth what someone is willing to pay for him.

Good point RCS Wonder where Northants want to play him. Good to get a fee as I wonder how much he would have played last season but for the |Holman injury. Amazing energy and fitness level and as said elsewhere...."good luck Billy!"
Re the fee...We have no control over what Rochdale pay for players and are constrained here by the fact that Billy is under 24 and had no contract with us. Anything is better than nothing in this situation.

Indeed, and it's fair to assume a tribunal wouldn't have given us much more than we've accepted either.

All the best to Billy, I'm glad he's taken a step up rather than just a sideways step.

Pretty sure we won't have any options as, again, he was out of contract.

Not true Shade he was out of contract but we still agreed a compensation package which could include sell on fees.

Wouldn't be worrying about sell on clauses here. Doubt he'll be worth eff all after he's been kicked by the L1 cloggers for half a season and sat on the bench/loaned to the conference for the other half while Nothampton get relegated.

Would you hang around in your job, Mal, if someone else was offering you a longer contract and a higher income?
