Wasps is an odd one. Wonder if any fans from London/Wycombe bother going anymore or if they are all new fans.

Wondered myself when they moved if it would work. It;s not that far on the train for the olf brigade I guess. Most of the ones sat near me were locals. Going back in new year for a european match. Only pints? At Kingston Park they sell two pint vestibules to save queuing twice! Two pinter and a perfect artificial pitch. Beats an overpriced can in a shed before being allowed out to look at a ploughed mudbath which one endures in L2.confused.com wrote:Wondered myself when they moved if it would work. Yeah no problem, In Nailsworth itself you've gotRobin wrote:Cheers Chris, any guidance as to where we could find them, last time we drank in Stroud and then went to the ground. Personally prefer The Village Inn, it's right on the main road, has Sky but doesn't do food, but is right next to a quality chippie, Walkers Fish anbd Chips and the pub encourages people to bring food in from there if they want.
The Weighbridge is pretty good as well about a mile outside Nailsworth towards Avening.
If you want food there are a few choices as well, you've a Chippie, Indian, Chinese, kebabs etc all within a close proximity. Nailsworth isn't big.

If true then it is one of the most pitiful things to happen on football.Ben2 wrote:My mate - a thoroughly respectable chap who lives in Stroud and a true Cambridge fan - just tried to get two tickets in the north terrace. Idiots, what other pastime do you need to pass a quiz before paying your hard-earned to a business

Crewe fans moved to the north terrace today (because of the rain?) against the wishes of Mark Cooper according to BBC Glos.
So, it sounds like loving away fans to the side terrace is absolutely to do with reducing the atmosphere for the away team.
If so, utterly petty and pathetic. And it’s not as if the South Stand at TNL is like the Kop.......

They got moved because a few of their fans hopped the barrier and went onto the pitch and into the South Stand during the match. Rather than doing their jobs, the police then opened up the segregation barrier and let them all through. It's poor though as it could have caused all sorts of problems.Jerry St Clair wrote:Crewe fans moved to the north terrace today (because of the rain?) against the wishes of Mark Cooper according to BBC Glos.

Yes, Dale Vince has gone on the record about not wanting the away fans to generate an atmosphere.

Do they still run the park & ride from Renishaw to the ground?

They went from the west to the south to get under cover?King giraffe iii wrote:

I would suggest that forcing away fans to stand in the rain when there is, presumably, ample space under cover just because the chairman is being petty about away fans creating an atmosphere rather invited that problem.

Won't happen. After they allowed themselves to look so foolish yesterday the local constabulary will probably go overboard. It'll be like Saturday night at The Umbrella when you get 12 of them turn up to deal with two bickering grannies.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Exactly. Plus the bus takes so long it makes a mockery of going to Stroud first. Taxi the only option. Even then you might as well get a taxi straight to Nailsworth from Cheltenham. A seven seater would work out quite cheap. Surprised the Trust haven't organised a fleet.everyman wrote:Bus will probably be full and is hourly so risky option.Robin wrote:Best way to get from Stroud to Nailsworth Giraffee, taxi or bus?

I’d like to add some sincere and genuine advice to those Cheltenham fans planning to attend the El Glosico match on Saturday.
For those living in the Cheltenham area the best idea getting to TNL is on the Official Cheltenham coach. It will be quicker than most other methods of travel.
For those living in the Gloucester area, they might be better off on the 63 bus from the city centre.
For those outside these areas and coming by train, it is Stroud rail station that has the only direct transport link to TNL.
There is a £5 car parking charge at TNL.
Parking is free in the surrounding streets but obviously the home fans know the best spots and it might be onerous to find a convenient parking space, especially as game will be a sell out.
Parking anywhere in the Stroud area is always at a premium and free parking next to non-existent.
The park and ride to TNL will be well signposted. I don’t know the cost.
There is a coach parking charge of £20.
The 63 bus from Stroud town centre officially takes 20 minutes but if it is running late and there is a traffic situation on match day, the trip could take double that time. Therefore every bus after 2pm from Stroud runs the risk of getting to TNL after game starts. [Robin, bus is best option from Stroud, almost as quick as taxi]
There are no pubs in the Forest Green vicinity.
On arrival at TNL, away fans will be dropped next to the away pub marquee.
I have not been inside so cannot comment on food or drink. But I will say that the home-made food at TNL is certainly one of best in the football league. Those prepared to try it are never disappointed.
Next to away fans marquee is an Indian kebab stall. Recent reports claim that the food served here is as good if not better than the official outlet. [Nearly every FGR supporter is a red meat eater, including me, but have accepted a vegan menu at game]
At last home game the Crewe fans moved into the North Stand at half time. Lessons will be learnt for future home matches but whatever the weather on Saturday, the Cheltenham fans will be kept within the West Stand for whole game.
Reason is that the game will be a sell out and the North Stand full occupied by home fans. The police allowed the Crewe fans into North Stand because there were so few FGR fans in it.
Remember TNL sits at 2nd highest altitude in football league so best be prepared for a wind chill. An extra T-shirt under normal shirt is warmest solution.
Musical instrument are permitted. So bring along your drummer to add atmosphere.
The PA system is excellent. Announcements can clearly be heard.
FGR supporters run a raffle and winning numbers are clearly announced, so do please buy a ticket. It will not be a waste of money. And should there be any unclaimed winning ticket, the away club are always informed of its number.
I’m sure everybody is looking forward to a good game against each club’s nearest opponents.

What is parking in Nailsworth like? Any town centre carparks?
North Stand maybe busy, but mainly with CTFC who have bought tickets for that end.
Your clothing advice is perhaps the most pathetically patronising thing I have ever read on here.

Unfortunately the official club coaches do no allow alcohol and the atmosphere is largely terrible so I suspect most of the CTFC fans will go by train or car. Also you really believe the game will be a sell out? I know a number of CTFC fans are in the home areas but I'd be surprised if it's more than a few hundred plus your usual 1400 or so will make around 3000.

Best thing about driving 40 mins to a footy game is getting a few pints in when behind the wheel.Robin wrote:Unfortunately the official club coaches do no allow alcohol and the atmosphere is largely terrible so I suspect most of the CTFC fans will go by train or car. RCS, My post was genuine.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:What is parking in Nailsworth like? Any town centre carparks?

Reference clothing - from experience I know that many fans from city/town clubs sometimes find it chilly at TNL.
I'm sorry for you that you found it patronising when I offered sound advice to keep warm. I wrote as one who had worked outside for 40 plus years so write from personal experience. It is sometimes warmer and more comfortable to add an extra T-shirt rather than a jumper.
Remember that the average away support for Cheltenham is around 200 per game but that around 1,000 Cheltenham are coming to game. Those extra 800 might not be aware of the chill factor or how to keep cosy warm unlike a seasoned away supporter like yourself. It was to those 800 I addressed my remark.
FGR are well aware that Cheltenham fans have bought tickets in the home area. But despite what you claim, they will not be taking over the North Stand. Swindon fans did similar with probably same number of travellers and the two sets of supporters got on together splendidly. Believe me there will be more FGR than Cheltenham in North Stand on day.
Robin,
The two clubs are only 45 minutes apart and for that short time I think it acceptable to go without a drink or atmosphere. Besides there is a bar at TNL. And because it is a local derby game I suspect their will be a lively and roarcus crowd on board in addition to the usual away crew.
Highest attendance this season at TNL is 3,305 v Swindon. I suspect it will be similar v Cheltenham. For a small club that is a sizeable crowd and gives the impression of being packed out. Officially FGR could host more but in reality it would be a very tight fit.
RCS,
Forget about long term parking in Nailsworth. Spaces are difficult to find.
You really believe our average away support is 200? Granted it's dropped a lot given our form in recent years but it will be more than that, we took 600 to Wycombe. We have 1000 officially going but realistically that number will be a few hundred higher, probably more like 1200-1300 or so. We all know CTFC and FGR fans get on well and there is no real rivalry we are just close and some youngsters on both sides seem to have taken it for some sort of rivalry.

Average CTFC away attendance for season is 3,608 and divided by 18 games is almost exactly 200.Robin wrote:You really believe our average away support is 200? RCS: All built up areas are warmer than at rural locations. I was stating the obvious and alerting the Cheltenham fans to dress up warmly.
For many of the 800 it could be their first away game watching match in the open. Big difference between the stands at Cheltenham and West Stand at TNL.
