OK, to get the ball rolling on this new thread: If my memory serves correct, when Cheltenham were first promoted to the football league we were given a certain amount of time to bring the Whaddon Road facilities up to the required standard. Hence this was one of the primary reasons for re-developing the Wymans Road side of the ground. Does anyone know the situation with FGR in this respect; are the facilities already up to the required standard, or will it be mandatory to upgrade, for example, the now notorious open terrace with seats and/or cover?

Good idea. May I take this opportunity to kick off? But not in the Biblical sense, I hasten to add, as I was not involved in any pyrotechnics in the town, fisticuffs with the hobbledehoys of Nailsworth or knocking helmets from the heads of their local constabulary.

This is a warning to all visiting fans of any football club visiting Forest Green Rovers:
To begin, I shall not ever attend another game at The New Lawn. The treatment of our fans was appalling and one wonders whether this was some bizarre attempt to highlight what farmed cattle must feel like and therefore the whole sorry saga perhaps provided some form of perverted kick to a particular individual?

The 4 portable latrines were totally inadequate for almost 1,000 visiting fans. There was no running water and extremely limited supplies of hand cleansing gel which must have run out before the fans were permitted entry to the ground. The owners of FGR need to be warned that if they do not clean up their filthy act they run the risk of creating an outbreak of cholera, typhoid, infectious hepatitis, polio, cryptosporidiosis, and ascariasis.

The makeshift opening that had been created as a serving hatch under one stand was full of rubbish at either end and was clearly another serious health hazard. There was no hot water for warm drinks and I gather that a small tin boiler had given up the ghost before it had even served a single customer. There were no tables or chairs for people to eat the meagre selection of food, and eating al fresco on a bitterly cold day at the end of November is only recommended for seasoned polar explorers.

Malabus highlighted in another thread, that one small gateway used as an exit point to leave the ground was dangerous in the extreme had some form of rapid exit been required, particularly as young fans and some elderly fans were in attendance, therefore any stampede to get out would have resulted in people being trampled and crushed.

The grotty little Attwoolls tent over the makeshift hatch was the only available cover for away fans and would have held a maximum of about 70 people. It was jolly fortunate that it did not rain, just a few spots in the wind, because had there been a deluge there could well have been a riot by very disgruntled fans. The conditions looked as hideous as those in a concentration camp. This is no way to treat visiting fans and FGR need to be very aware that there will be large numbers of fans from a few other clubs as the winter progresses who will not put up with such appalling treatment. Cheltenham Town FC should make an official complaint about the conditions away fans have to endure at FGR, to The Football League. It is disgraceful.

Nope. Just pi55ed off with every other thread relating to FGR, so at least this way I don't have to scroll through threads to find something just slightly interesting

Concentration camp? Hyperbolic bullshit and an insult to the memory of someone I knew who had survived Auschwitz-Birkenau.

As disappointing as the regrettable and inappropriate comparison is, it is another example of the anger and argument caused by Vince's attitude to away fans.

Such insults to memories of survivors you know are unacceptable though wouldn't be mentioned if Vince had not caused ire by deliberately not giving elderly, child and less abled football fans seats and plumbed toilets/taps.

I believe so. The ETm105, which is the model our groundsman uses certainly does. Not sure about other models. Some detailed info here-

No offence intended anywhere. One would hope in this day and age never to see a return to inhumane treatment of fellow human beings in a civilised country. The analogy sadly is a reflection of how many of us felt about the inhumane treatment meted out by Forest Green Rovers Football Club to away supporters.

Let me be clear, there are well supported Clubs in League 2 who will bring away support in equal numbers to those from Cheltenham Town FC during the remainder of Autumn and Winter and if the weather is inclement, be warned. My message was intended to provoke a reaction and it is my sincere hope that the reaction comes from those who are shamed into making changes and not just by someone who wishes to use over-sensitive pathos in order to deflect that which they regard simply as hyperbole, from the real issue.

Like owner like manager.

Can you name a more pathetic, arrogant and petty club in professional football?

I can't think of any.

Haha. FGR out the Cup. After extra time - so fatigue - plus Monthe picked up another red card. Such a poor disciplined side. He will miss the Luton match, so hopefully another 7 goal haul for the EasyJet boys.
