However from reading the Club statement on the official site (https://www.ctfc.com/news/2018/may/qa-c ... departure/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) it sounds like a simple misunderstanding by CTFC re: Trust rules and constitution rather than a deliberate attempt to disrupt or ride roughshod.
I am sure the Club would welcome the next FED as outlined in Trust statement and I hope this robust response from the Trust does not see the FED join the Club Board on a sour note.

Yes, I agree it looks like a misunderstanding.
But misunderstandings tend to stem from a communication breakdown between two parties. This club Q & A / Trust statement tennis that is playing out suggests the relationship between the two is currently dysfunctional. I hope it’s smoother out soon.
