....transfer deadline day and no tweets from Jon Palmer today, his last one retweeting a call for minor league pre season friendlies ?

Are we not in the game today ? What is our position ? Loans only ?

Would be good if the club also gave us some updates not just JP. I am actually hoping that we are keeping things quiet to not risk any deals given the fees and will just announce Rowe and Smith.

JP's reporting has been a bit hit and miss this summer which may reflect a desire not to let cat out of the bag. Question then is who is he working for ?

Our transfer strategy this summer has been very poor. Would love to play Gary and the board at a game of poker.

Can he replace a proven 25 league goal scoring striker?

I will be absolutely amazed and shocked if players are not signed today. They are needed as a matter of urgency after what I have seen in pre season and last Saturday!

Difficult choice for the board: do we splurge the Mo money on deadline day signings of proven class, effectively leaving us in a worse place financially in two years after the money runs out and we have high earners on the books, or) do we save the money but risk being a weak attacking force unable to challenge this season (or worse).

Either way, both worse options than keeping Mo would have been. There had to be a plan in place if and when Mo went to avoid the scenario we are in today - but appears not to have been! (Unless GJ has kept his plans secret from the mole/JP).

We don't need to spend even half of the Mo fee though, just need a couple of players total say £400k.

We are certainly leaving things to the last minute, I'm watching Sky Sports in the hope we will flash up.

And for all we know, Danny Rowe could turn out to be another Holman or Watkins. Lethal outside the FL, a flop in it.
But I'm not worried. Duku and KLK will score plenty this season.

And the wages to attract a player of that value to us rather than a higher division or bigger side.

That £400k fee soon becomes £150k a year in wages and bonuses, and then even more wages to keep hold of him if he does well and threatens to leave on a fee.

Like a horse. I could go out tomorrow and buy a horse but the ongoing costs would bankrupt me in a couple of years.

In 9 months we could be the richest club in the National League

Truly dreadful transfer strategy from management and board. Out flanked. Not how you manage things ; too last minute when others have us over a barrel

Frustrating when it was us in command of the most in demand asset; Mo. We had the whip hand but relinquished it meekly and paid the price.

JP has reported that someone has joined Longlevens from Evesham but no conclusion on any other business for CTFC ! I do maintain JP has been below his usual high standards this summer - Mo transfer another case in point.

Technically our transfer window is not over until the end of August.

We can still loan a player in until then with the view to it being a permanent deal in January. That can be agreed before January too.

It is not therefore the be all and end all of our season today.

It will however be later this month :) :)

Lee will be showing the training ground and reserve game DVDs for Gary to pick from after Sunday dinner this weekend.

See i think he just puts 10 names into a hat and Gary gets to draw 3 out, and that decides the yearly loans

Quite. Better for journalists to stay silent than print tattle and guff.

(Luckily the same doesn’t apply to football forum posters!)

....wasn't JP at Bristol watching that magnificent century by Cockbain as GCCC thrashed Middlesex - I was! :).
.
.
.but not surprised at inaction over last couple of days - better to avoid 'knee-jerk' reactions.
