This run of festive games and the window will go a long way to influence how the rest of the season shapes up, which could see a real change in Gloucestershire’s footballing hierarchy.
FGR currently in a play-off spot so in with a decent shout of promotion to League One. After a few rocky games they have gone back to grinding out victories in spite of Cooper’s negative influence.
Cheltenham are once again failing to beat the poorer sides, meaning as they now face promotion challengers there is a real possibility of dropping back in to the bottom two. Not out of the question Cheltenham could be two divisions below FGR next season.
More likely to be relegated are Gloucester who can’t buy a win and surviving currently on the odd draw against the divisions out of form sides. If, or when, they go down, they could find themselves facing Cirecencester in the Southern Prem as the Centurions currently hold a play off spot in Southern League Div 1.
Cinderford solid mid-table in the SL Div 1, but Slimbridge in real danger of relegation to the Hellenic League where they will face mid-table Cleeve, Lydney and Fairford. Longlevend and Tuffley currently battling over the single relegation spot from that division.

Yeah, two failures vs Weston and it looks very bleak indeed.SHANDY VOR wrote:Big Xmas for us

Depends on what failure looks like, and how the other teams at the bottom do. We are not in a relegation spot and haven't been all season so bleak appears to be pathosetic, yet may yet become prophetic.

I personally would call failure an away defeat and then not winning the home game.SHANDY VOR wrote:Depends on what failure looks like, and how the other teams at the bottom do. Well good job we drew the away fixture yesterday then.

Yup. Stopped anyone gaining ground on you. Being booed off though...how much longer for Todd? Obviously Duff didn’t win for ten games and is now turning it around; how many games has it been for Todd?SHANDY VOR wrote:Well good job we drew the away fixture yesterday then.
Is the rumoured investment from Dowdeswell Estates still on the cards? One assumes this is the exciting announcement being trailed for the January fans forum?

Your words are therefore irrelevant and you should be forced to take a -1 post count reduction penalty, and ask for another 473 to be taken into account.

I hope that you don't write up your consultancy conclusions on such assumptive pillars of sand.
I know nothing about the Dowdeswell rumour however what I have heard is something that would dwarf even that, and project the only City in Gloucestershire with a football team into a warmy wonderfulness.

Good spot. A silly idiosyncratic substitution by me there. Must get up to speed on my Shakespeare.asl wrote:The more literate amongst us will wait with bated breath.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:We wait with baited breath.

City scoring certainly a surprise. Sounds like Torquay let you off with the number of shots and chances they missed and the way they dropped off. No wonder Johnson was fuming with despite Torquay winning.SHANDY VOR wrote:We're going to surprise Torquay, beat Weston and stay up.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Yup. Playing the bottom three in the next three games now I see. Decisive month?

I see we have recalled Bower from Weston, Shandy.
That might help you out. Good luck today.

Ah. Gloucester losing 2-0 at East Thurrock. East Thurrock overtake Gloucester as a resullt, with the Tigers now second bottom. Four points from safety after Hungerford beat a top five side.
Cirencester 4-0 winners so the chances of Cirencester and Gloucester being in the same division next year increase.

City copying CTFC and appointing someone with no experience to keep them up. But unlike Magic Duff this chap sounds like noise the cheap option:

I see that article is signed off by Alex Petheram, ‘Club Director’. However he is not listed as a Director of Gloucester City FC on companies house, nor for Arriva Group who are the person of significant control.

So almost two months on from OP.
It got worse for Gloucester as they persisted with Todd, the only manager this season to make Darren Way look competent, but unlike Yeovil, Gloucester got rid with immediate impact as the new man has 11 points from games, going from second bottom to clear of the bottom three. Hopefully not too little too late!
An 8-2 win for Ciren yesterday keeps them in control of the last play off spot. Cinderford one of the teams trying to wrench it from them.
Be great for City or Ciren to get to the Conference (in old money) or even the EFL

After the initial bounce, the Cookie is crumbling at Gloucester. Still outside the relegation area for now and a decent chance of staying up; an almost unimaginable position when the hapless Todd was there.
If Gloucester do drop though then I would put money on there being another big Shire derby next season as Cirencester look irresistible and irrepressible currently and must be favourites to win the play-offs if they can’t make automatic.
Interestingly I gather than City are changing kit to Yellow and Red next season and changing their badge. Will their nickname still be the Tigers I wonder?

Ciren win again, beating Evesham 2-0.
Meanwhile, in Evesham, the fluke of last week couldn’t be repeated and Gloucester revert to normal form, losing 1-0 at ‘home’ to return to their berth in the bottom three.
The Ciren vs Gloucester derby (if it counts as a derby with GCFC playing in a different county) is still on for next season.
