Obviously, Kev hasn't signed his new deal yet. The longer it goes on the more unlikely it seems, but now there's a report that we're after his 33yo brother Stephen, from Bury.

JP says it is looking as if Dawson junior will be leaving.
Yeovil,Exeter,Torquay with a two year deal maybe?
..or Salford :-)

The sticking point was the duration the last I heard but how many clubs will give him a long deal given his injury record here and Yeovil.

So in Mike Duffs pre-season video he states that Dawson rejected the deal, however its still on the table.

Ryan Broom should be added to the midfield list.He is the obvious replacement for Dawson.

Fair point, but I still see him primarily as a RWB.

Good to see that Duff is not bending over backward to keep someone who is obviously trying to get a better deal here or elsewhere

Good luck Kev where ever you end up but I am sure Duff will get someone just as good and perhaps fitter and able to score more goals

Shane Long will be right back. Ryan prefers and is best in midfield.

I trust MD's opinion of what is a fair contract for Kevin. Than his own view as to what he is worth offering

Sounds like Kev is trying to keep his options open, trying to find better elsewhere whilst not telling us he's definitely off, but the club has to draw a line somewhere. Either that or he's just being rude by not being in contact.

You'd think he'd want to stay at Southampton in the Premier League, playing up front, rather than slumming it in League 2 completely out of position.

I would have kept Dawson but not sure he would have got in our best eleven over the last two years. At times he was fantastic then went off the boil completely before getting injured.

I find all of this really interesting and would love to know how decisions are made.

Defence is sorted, as is the keeper.

Midfield is really NOT sorted and I agree with this - was our weakest aspect last season. Nige and daws I liked but the unit didn’t perform well.

If there is a method here then we should look forward to next season. If - IF! - duff can get a midfield together as he did a defence, and then a strike force, we’ll win the league

I’ll give you my always-reliable prediction early this year. I think we’ll finish fourth

Exactly ! 2 years too long given his history with us.

I thought Nige was our best midfielder in the first half of the season, and Daws in the second. Two or three decent signings needed.

We need at least 1 centre back for cover, 3 midfielders for first team and 2 competitive strikers, imo.

Poweful/target man and combative midfielder essential.
