Our best cup runs in recent memory are :-
2002 WBA away 5th round
2006 Newcastle home 4th round
2012 Spurs away 3rd round
2013 Everton home 3rd round
So our next chance of a big tie that will be 2021 = 8 years.
Too long.

Some people will be apoplectic if the winners of City v Vale get drawn away to Spurs...we missed the chance to play there??? Disaster!

When were we last on the third round full stop, regardless of how the luck of the draw went?

Winnable second round cup ties are close to must win games. Especially when you are leading and controlling the game.

to get back to the Port Vale game it was a bit like a darts player throwing his first dart in the treble 20, hit a one with his second dart and hit the wire with his third. Oh what could have been

I’m just suffering from football envy. I remember going to West Brom in the Cotts era, Newcastle at home, Spurs away.....these are games where the odds say you will lose but it’s not about going there thinking we will win, it is a great occasion. Away from home it’s an opportunity to see your team at a big stadium against top players, the excitement that builds from the moment the draw is made right up to match day is amazing. There will be a generation of young supporters who have never experienced this and today could have been the day, it doesn’t get much bigger than Man City away. I’m gutted!
