Great news. A bit concerning how Colchester had four players/staff with the virus out of twenty odd tests however. That will put them at a major disadvantage for the play offs you'd think.

Also glad to see the final will be at Wembley so it will give the players who make it something special at least.

I suppose as the first matches won't be for 3 weeks it's better to have positive results now and before contact with other team members begins.
If I'm correct in thinking that only approximately one person in 400 has the virus then for Colchester to have 4 out of thirty odd is astonishingly high.

Essex has 219.6 confirmed infections per 100k of population.

Gloucestershire has 216.7 per 100k.

Obviously that is county level and only counts actual tests which will vary across the country (plus the government doesn’t know who has been tested).

So it depends where the players live I guess. Parts of East London (Havering, Waltham Forest etc) have rates up around 275 per 100k or higher.

And it will also depend on whether the players live and socialise together. It might be that all four Colchester players travelled in the same car or taxi, or went to the same takeaway, massage parlour/brothel, bookies or whatever it is League Two footballers do.

Spot on. The play-offs are an utter farce.
Futile to even attempt them, incurring costs that the industry can ill-afford.
At worst they won't actually take place or be completed, and at best, an unlevel playing field

I'm no expert though.

Firstly, 30 isn't a particularly big sample size to compare with any county wide or national prevalence rate.
Secondly, its quite possible that some of those affected have had some form of non-virtual contact with each other, even with social distancing measures.

Not quite the same. Food poisoning isn't contagious like a virus, is not a communicable disease and there were no HMG guidance / rules / regulations enforcing those impacted by it to isolate.

Total nonsense. No other games are being played, because it has been deemed unsafe. Also notice of who is paying for all this.

Games are being played in Championship and Premier League where it is more affordable. The only reason L1 and L2 are not playing is financial - clubs cannot play ten games with no fans. Two or three games for four teams is both more affordable for the teams or for a third party to cover the cost.
