Anyone can add to this if they like but this is the first retained list from a team in our division (or was in our division) that I’ve seen.

Looks brutal and Cole Stockton is being offloaded on a free.
Two ex-Robins on their released list too.

Might be mutual if they know Stockton wants to stay in League One. Or simply they can’t offer him close to what he commands with their financial/ownership shenanigans.

With seven goals in the last four games he has certainly been making a case for him to stay in L1, having almost kept Morecambe up.

Fleetwood would be a natural move for him, although he did have a loan spell at Wrexham a few years ago.

I hope we have made a call.

No new deals offered at all, think they’re in a spot of bother financially, and with a takeover stalling it’s looking bleak up there.

Stockton didn’t really do anything this season until the last couple of games, but suspect he’ll attract interest from wealthier clubs than ours this summer.

Morecambe need to sign a whole squad with no money and dodgy potential owners lurking.

FGR need to sign a whole squad with no recruitment team so relying on hopeless Dunc.

Could well be a pair of back to back relegations.

Big Dunc is up in Scotland scouting this week, will be interesting to see what sort of squad he can put together. He’s handling our retained list as well, I hope he knows what he’s doing as he’s admitted himself he doesn’t know a lot about some of our squad out on loan nor much about league 2 itself.

Yep, can definitely see Morecambe struggling back in league two, very worrying times for their fans. Complete fire sale up there thanks to their 'dodgy' owners.

If your post is truly indicative of the summer recruitment approach then I’d say you are as good as down.

You just got to hope DF’s replacement gets the January window and isn’t too far adrift.

Tbh I don’t mind the manager having more control over signings, our last 3 windows with a DoF/head of recruitment have been shite and if we repeat that we’re heading back into non league. The hope is Dunc has enough contacts to find the right sort of player to stabilise us in League 2. We’re scouting Scotland and Ireland this week apparently, who knows maybe we’ll find the next Aiden Keena.

Maybe. Worth noting that our DoF had been tracking Keena for months, if not a year or
more, and had multiple in person meetings with his club and agent. We will have a pipeline of targets we have been tracking for months/year ready to approach when needed. Not sure what Dunc will achieve in a week but you never know.

Must be a lot of Hope having the useless Big Dunc in charge of that

One of his big problems will be how he reacts when not all / most of the signings do not work out as expected. We all know the success rate is not a given. However, the 5 points DF has managed to win since he arrived, does show that he can't get the best out of what is available and / or can't find a system that best suits what he has available

Argyle have just realised their retained list.

Luke Jephcott would be a good signing.

Agree Jephcott would be a realistic signing for us and in area we know we need to add too.

Matty Taylor a local possibility?
Maybe has had his best days now though?
Bit like Charlie Austin who might be available from Swindon?

The likes of Matty Taylor will be outside our wage structure. I guess he will sign for port vale after banging them in there on loan?

Wonder if this makes it more likely - we can't sign players in top form realistically so might take a punt on someone who has lost their way a little and hope they fulfill their potential with us.

Given what Jevani Brown is being prosecuted for - and innocent until proven guilty I agree (though he has admitted a charge of assaulting a woman) - he's not someone I would like associated with the club.

The last rumoured club I heard about Sam Smith was Sheffield Wednesday. Joe Ironside is definitely someone I'd look at though.

Even if a bigger club wasn’t interested, I’m not sure if Sam Smith would be interested as we passed him over when we won L2.

I’d go for Cannon if he’s available.

Worth a shot, and would certainly light a fuse under our season preparation.

I thought Albie Morgan was excellent when we played them couple of weeks ago. Only 23 but loads of experience and fits in perfectly with the sort of player we’d hope to attract.

If we’re unable to keep hold of Broom, I’d be interested in Freeman from Wycombe - can play off either flank, only leaving Wycombe because he wants regular football, likely within our budget (especially if Broom moves on again).

Fully agree with this, absolutely the sort of player we should be trying to bring here this summer. We know we will sign predominately young players and he has some experience too.

Danger is if the likes of Rovers or Oxford offer him £3-4k a week we can’t compete.

Not convinced any young player is getting offered those sorts of wages in this league unless they are a striker. But take your point about bigger clubs offering us more in principle.
