One nice little story that re-emerges from the tie between Exeter City and Barnet is that Exeter paid Barnet 300k a few years ago for an old stand and it now accommodates away fans so Barnet fans will be in slightly familiar surroundings during their match.

Dear oh dear, that draw is about as bad as it gets. Unless we win of course
thought an easy one myself, but we will just have to wait and seerobinsrule wrote: ↑15 Oct 2024, 11:29 Dear oh dear, that draw is about as bad as it gets. Unless we win of course

For clubs like us, the r2 draw is HUGE. A winnable tie could lead to an era-defining money spinner in r3. Virtually any away game at a Prem team and even a “lesser” tie like a Burnley, Norwich or West Brom away would fill the coffers significantly.

Ordinarily I would completely agree, but it’s still too soon after Alvechurch. Agree with the comment above - a Morecambe or similar at home would be great.
If we manage to get a televised match and we do embarrassingly crash out we'll have the sweetener of 100k+ in broadcast fees, but Robin's correct in saying that a 3rd tie has to be the aim.Jerry St Clair wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 15:38Ordinarily I would completely agree, but it’s still too soon after Alvechurch. That is what gives me some hope of victory. MF does mention regularly we were the better team in the first half up there in mid September.
With our change of system and a boost of confidence in recent games I am very hopeful.
If our good form continues through November then this is definitely winnable. Looks a lot easier than Rotherham away on paper. It would be so good to have a decent FA cup run this year and bring in some substantial funds which could see us through this season and next.
Lets get to round 3

We’re surely due a money spinning cup run? Man City was nearly 4 years ago and that was during lockdown. Before that, West Ham in the League Cup in 2017 at a push? I don’t think WR was sold out for that even? Everton? Which you’d need to be in your late teens/early twenties as a minimum to remember.
Agree with this, look through and there are not a lot desired ties and apart from Birmingham certainly no glamour ties likely to generate much interest. It's all about reaching the third or fourth round and getting one of the big clubs.
That Newcastle game, Paul Baker said we could have sold 20,000 tickets had we had the capacity. That and Spurs away where we took 5000+ and many more in the home end probably our ticket biggest cup dates. Ideally you'd want Man Utd or Arsenal away to make the most money but Villa or Chelsea would also be amazing as we'd take thousands.
