Correct - see my remarks about the Chinese. Won't stop as long as demand from that vile society continues. Same as rhino horn, tiger bone, etc etc.
I'd send our army into Africa to protect the animals and to kill poachers (or suspected/potential poachers) on sight. All out war on ivory traders and poachers should be commenced because the anti-trade treaties aren't worth the paper they are written on.
Leaders in Africa do try and have big national parks, but they are so under-resourced that they can never overcome the Chinese millions flooding into poaching militia gangs, and are fighting a lost cause. We should help them.
