It all stemmed from the quickly taken throw-in the ref awarded to Welling (the ball looked like it came off their player) hence Barts being right by the thrower as it was taken and the other defenders a little way off their men.kags wrote:Burgess nowhere near tight enough for the goal
It looked a poor decision to me at the time but Welling took full advantage of it.

The goal scorer had acres of space running from advanced midfield and was not picked up until he had possession. This reminded me of the slow marking for the Dover goal in the TV match, from Cleverdicks who also had time in midfield to run, steady himself and shoot. In the late stages of a game it is essential that concentration is maintained and runners from midfield get picked up before they get the ball.
Being caught in two minds as to whether to go to the player Storer had, or cover the back post. In the end he did neither and marked fresh air. Not saying it was his fault, but he didn't do anything either!horlickfanclub wrote:What was Cranston doing ?

As I said previously, we were all caught out by the quick throw in. We were looking to attack and then suddenly, unexpectedly, the ref gave them the throw instead. They took it quickly which took Barts out of the game (he was about to take the throw for us) and caused Parslow to have to hurry back. Consequently we were having to chase back when we were actually looking to be on the attack a matter of seconds previously.Shade wrote:Being caught in two minds as to whether to go to the player Storer had, or cover the back post. Watch the clip and look where Bartram and Parslow are positioned as it is taken.
