OK now I am confused he is on loan with us for the season but the article suggests we need to sign him back on loan and he plays for Reading this week?

The original loan extension was agreed, but not signed before he got injured.

Therefore he needs to re-sign on loan. The game he is playing for Reading in is just a friendly.

If he is on a youth loan, which is possible, the terms of the loan allow him to play for parent club anyway.

Assume this means that Flatt will be extended until the end of the season?

That's interesting to know. I didn't realise that. Good to see him back.

Sorry, should have made that clearer (it's been a busy week dealing with horses and fighting/p*****g footballers!)

Youth loans mean they can continue playing development games and friendlies for parent club - not first-team competitive games. Reading's today was a friendly.
