The Great 2019 challenge

I am throwing out the gauntlet to you RCS. Please pick it up, examine the contents and then throw it back to me.

As part of my life's work I have always challenged myself to bring reason where there is nonsense, to drag the self-obsessed from the land of Delusion into the metropolitan borough of Realityville. I have had many adventures on the way, but none have I found as difficult as my current task, and the one which precipitated my return to the Nest.

With posts in 5 figures it has been difficult to keep up with your nonsense, and I need to simplify my hectic life going into the new year.

Therefore I have a proposition for you. If you can keep your 2019 posts down to below 1000 and I'll post less than 100. You've got 3 fixes almost every day - but please don't waste them.

Are you up for the challenge?

Yes, though obviously starting tomorrow after today’s splurge.

I do endeavour to cut down and wish I could. About 18 months ago I even ditched a smart phone and switched to a £20 burner to restrict my internet use, but couldn’t deal with lack of WatsApp. Of all vices one battles with, RNF compulsive posting is relatively harmless - but having someone other than my spouse (who tries to help me post less) to hold me to account would be great assistance.

If the Mods could limit me to 3 posts a day that would make it easier, but then less of a challenge.

I'm sorry to hear about your problems, and happy that I am able to help. As a starting step I agree that the mods should limit your posts to three a day.

Good luck

This contest has the makings of Wilder v Fury II.

Surely even the dimwits Ralph and Robin are better referees than what judged the first bout between DW and TF.

Well, that's one, already. Just waiting for something contentious to be posted in the non footy section...

Happy New Year to you too RCS.

Maybe go cold turkey some days RCS, thus enabling yourself to be able to splurge on another day, say when CTFC are promoted through the play-offs in a few months time.

Post check:

RCS 20,246 - 90 posts in 2019 (35 days)
Shandy 248 - 2 posts

Both within our limits, good work. The other posters must be feeling refreshed.

Can you confirm you are not posting under any other names :)

With no posts from the 'Specialist One' since early April then a calmer forum, but is he just saving up his bullets for an american college style cyber frenzy nearer the new season.

Don't waste a post responding, just enjoy the downtime

Why should anyone really care how much anyone else posts, though?

This place is dead at the best of times, so trying to reduce posting even further seems illogical....

Post check at the 2/3rds point of the year:

RCS 20,660 - 504 posts in 2019 (Max 1000)
Shandy 288 - 42 posts (Max 100)

Both within our limits, good work. This place has been calmer and more friendly this year.

Can you confirm you are not posting under any other names :)

And with judicious of the 'block' option, the total is so much less :)

As we approach the home straight only 156 left for you RCS, use them wisely and hold some back for your annual Xmas rant about the treatment of turkeys etc. It would be shame to fall at the final hurdle when you've been doing so well. I think I've got about 40 left, not sure I'll be using them all.

With quite literally hours left, I have available another 27 pearls of wisdom, while you have 105 statements of guff.

You've done well this year m'laddo, although I suspect other usernames, if not there must have been tears and tantrums during the times that your partner (carer and therapist) had to lock your electronic devices away.

Congratulations!

I also thank you this year for consistently educating me in the ways of the world, and how it works. I fear that your insight might scorch some of the lesser intellects on this site and send them mentallist. Survival of the fittest.

However, in the interests of mental health - and for the love of God - I propose we hear less of us (you) in 2010. In doing so I will be making a personal sacrifice against the backdrop of intense pleading, and the throwing of knickers. Next year I'll drop to 75, if you do 750. Game on?

Robin - I've received a private message requesting that I invite you to the party, although I thought the universally suggested limit of 30 (high average) was a bit low considering all the juicy tip offs you have. Fancy coming in with a 200?

RCS HAS done well, but he has been massively aided by our upturn in fortunes. The site is dead on its feet whilst we do quite well. Although RCS is not one of the worst doom-and-gloomers, he obviously has less to bounce off with the downturn in traffic

The real test will come if we have a bad run. The site will be awash with posts and then RCS will really need to restrain himself

Shandy just FYI - RCS is currently posting on the forest green forum as Eco Exile and winding them up a treat. Posts more in there than here now

I fear that that I have weaned him off one obsession and driven him to a more powerful drug and a crippling addiction. You know what he's like with Forest Green.

I am powerless to intervene as I don't really have much interest in the Southern League artists formerly known as Forest Green Rovers. Apart from them finishing higher than you in the League, as it means you finish one place lower than you might have done. I know that might be harsh but that's the raw sound of rivalry, and one which exists between our clubs but no has no place in Nailsworth.

When we make it to the Football League, as long as you can retain your status, our fixture will be of interest to the wider football world, and will be guaranteed widespread media coverage within a 50 mile radius.

Then it's someone who's impersonating you with your exact posting style. You have a certain way of writing posts. They even apologise like you when they post something and get called out for not having read some other post first. Oh and they live in the North East too.

I thought I would investigate and I cannot click view the profile of said poster without logging in which I cannot do without signing up. So how do you know they are listed as North East unless you are a member on the forum?

What I can see the other FGR forum members refer to Eco Exile as ‘her’ and ‘she’ and seem to know about her. No mention of the North East in any of the posts I just a quick look at.

Perhaps OTC can check the profile and confirm?

A mystery, but it is not me.

It was something he/she said one time that that was their region. No more than NE and that was why they couldn't get to games much.
With the "she" bit, think they are just saying that, no other reason

There are a couple of posters on there that iirc have named you as RCS on there over time. Obviously they read here and it is the same posting style. If it's not you, they should be commended because they have your post style 100% accurate :)

I wouldn't get OTC to check anything. He'll only confirm with the girl on the phone

Even DV thinks whoever it is is on a wind up. You could really have some fun with this
