Team news, live updates and reaction all here this afternoon: http://bit.ly/ColchesterA" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If only the final whistles were about to blow!
Plymouth two down and a man sent off.
Announcing our goal, Jeff Stelling said we have conceded 10 away goals this season - 8 less than anyone else. We currently have the best defence in the football league (with Sunderland who have played a game and a half less). Only Liverpool have conceded less in England's top 5 divisions. Let's hope it can hang on another 50-odd minutes today.

With our good GD, getting a sneaky win today, with Plymouth and Exeter behind, would be a good days work. If that doesn't inspire them to put in a big shift for the next 50+, nothing will. COYR

Northampton winning comfortably away. I do not want to face them in the play offs.
Always think one of MD's better defensive subs is to throw Alex on. It keeps them pinned back a bit when they know he can break so fast and he is very quick at getting back to cover. Second bottle of wine opened. My liver can't take another 2 months of this
Best win of the season in my view and puts us firmly in contention for the top three. Must admit I thought we would slip up today but we were very, very comfortable and I can't remember Evans having a serious save to make. Alfie May was also superb for us and caused Col U no end of problems with his movement and work rate.

Congratulations to Kevin Dawson for making an excellent choice last summer.
Yep, it would take an amazing collapse not to make the top seven from here on in. Win next week and there can be no further doubt we make the top seven if there still is anywhere.Ben3 wrote:Absolutely stunning set of results , even the most curmudgeonly of nay-sayers must be getting excited now!
Once and smith coming on and doing a job, we've got a squad of 20 competent and fit players
Still think we'll go top away at Swindon
Even though I've kept my feet on the ground so far and we've still not yet officially met pre-season expectation of a top half finish, we are very much in the race for top three and given run in/form I would be cautiously optimisitc.

Sensational. What a win.
We don’t need to worry about Exeter drawing - they have to come to Whaddon Road where we will overtake them.
Swindon away is going to be epic. Hope we can take 1,000+ on Good Friday with a chance to go top.

Still plenty more twists and turns to come. As I said in another thread, don't be surprised to lose to Stevenage and beat Colchester. It can all be a bit funny towards the end of the season. Hopefully we can maintain our form for the final push.
It can, and it's the hope that kills ya, but we are the most consistent side in the division, so if anyone can press on through the last 11 (Eleven ) games it can be us.Hubert Parry wrote:Still plenty more twists and turns to come. That Exeter game could be absolutely massive and a potential sell out if things are this close by the time we play them.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Sensational. What a win.

Game off at TNL so listened to Cheltenham at Colchester.
I predicted a draw as match result onTIR’s prediction competition so dropped 10 pts but did forecast May as first scorer so gained 5 pts that ensures I stay top of table.
In fact it was only Red Duke who forecast an away win.
One guy got himself a name check on BBC Gloucester. He used to be a work colleague of mine and I had totally forgotten that he was a devoted Cheltenham supporter. Good friend of mine all those years ago.
Good result for Cheltenham, overtaking Plymouth and now only one point from auto promotion.
Commentator said May scored against run of play and might have even been off side. It was later confirmed as a good goal.
Commentator said Cheltenham had a stone cold penalty claim turned down which MD was not happy about.
FGR also got more than one name check throughout the programme.
This result has moved my thoughts that Cheltenham could well be auto promoted and if so I wish them well.
