I heard a rumour that Gloucester are over a million in debt and could be in serious trouble again next season after spending well beyond their means under the out going chairman. Some clubs just get stuck in a boom and bust cycle.

According to some poster on Twitter, Gloucester took around 500 fans to Brackley - a terrific following across country in midweek, for a 6th tier clash (imo).

There's not another country in the world which has anything like so much depth of support for the game as England.

Stick to the bingo Robin, that's unfounded wished-for nonsense from someone who likes to think he is connected but isn't.

Away support was in the mid 500s I believe, a great turnout and a great night, despite the result. What a season!

I still love football :)

Do you know the guy Shandy? Claims to be a big fan but only ever posts scaremongering info.

532 last night is bloody impressive, even if it was Gloucester's biggest game since their playoff final in 2009. Shandy will correct me if I'm wrong, but it's more than 50% of their average attendance this season, and on a Wednesday night to boot.

Gloucester captain Ben Morgan on Radio Glos:

"I hope they can support whoever is in front of them"

"Looks like we won't be together for much longer, doesn't look like there'll be anything for us next season"

They lost?! When I looked on BBC Sport last night it said 2-2, Gloucester won 0-0 on penalties!

Yes, typical BBC approach to lower non league.

City lost on pens 5-3.

No, but his posts speaks volume. I've met his ilk before, all clubs have them. They're usually about 5ft tall, and stand in the pub trying to talk to anyone who will listen :)

Great turn out, great noise, let's hope we see most of them again next year.

Sill loving football

Seems the new owners are getting some unwelcome advice on Twitter.

You seem to have a lot of time on your hands Sam.

This season has been mostly enjoyable, and I'm not going to teint that memory with idle unfounded speculation about what might happen in the future. A new chapter begins for City in August and I'm optimistic. For now, I'm taking a summer break from City and recharging!

Bank Holiday yesterday with half the country distracted by some event in London, so had plenty of time on Twitter on the sofa recovering from a 40 hours in 4 days week whilst watching the Giro d’Italia individual time trial.

Has been a good year for Gloucestershire football for sure. We will both be seeing changes in the summer. All the best for next season!

Not complaining or asking for sympathy. Shandy made a snipe about having time on hands and I was just explaining why. No need for you to follow up with another needless snipe as well.

The season they challenged us for a place in the conference back in the nineties, you could also argue they had a bit of a boom this season and last when challenging near the top of the southern league.

More from Flowers after tonight’s defeat. And crikey.

“Hanksy has cramp…[..] why?”

“Said to them don’t you understand what we are saying to you in training?”

Slagging the players off after 3 games….surely won’t be there much longer, or will lose the dressing room big time, if he keeps up that attitude.

With the respective challenges facing GCAFC and CTFC I will throw out the idea I do every few years: a merger to form a Gloucestershire County side.

Out of curiosity I looked to see what the state of play is regarding ex manager, the seemingly unpleasant James Rowe.

Trial date for December apparently, a year after his first court appearance.
Waiting over a year isn't fair on any of the parties involved.
That said I imagine waiting forever for a hospital procedure is worse.

The judges comments here seem to come from someone who's seen and heard it all before.

A good piece here from Severnsport on the fans forum with City chairman Pat Chambers.
In the relegation zone so fans obviously not happy.
Everyone knew it would be a struggle this season with a vastly reduced budget and realistically a little like the Robin's with bottom half expectations.
Crowds not bad with 800 ish average.

Interesting read.

“The indication is that the club is up for sale and work is going on to secure investment (referred to as cash injections) to help the club level out their balance sheet in order to secure a purchase to an individual or consortium.”

Does Pat Chambers own them?
