I was there at the game. I think this was the game where Dave Meeson the keeper had to change his socks and shorts. They were the same colour as his yellow jersey. The FA Cup rules at the time were that the goalkeeper had to wear the same colour shorts and socks as his team mates and the ref insisted that he changed them.
Conceded a very early penalty after our centre half handled the ball trying to do a diving header. It was downhill from then on.

Was it Alan Jeffries who gave the penalty away? He also conceded a penalty at the Wycombe FA Cup tie in 1974 I recall.
Stuart Scullion was the star Watford player that day I recall. It was the first time I’d seen the Robins take a pasting and was quite upset after the game. Phew….55 years ago, good job our memories are still good!
