Alfie may out injured for 2 months.

Not really he's our biggest asset (and needs to be protected) if he doesn't need to be on the pitch then take him off. We were two up and the win was never in doubt. He had no reason to be on the pitch, the fact he went down 2/3 times prior to this should of been the big red flag to take him off. May always gives 100% so was never going to 'slow down'

Last season of course we were without The Boy for longer, and we lost Perry last season too. It was a struggle during that winless run but when we got people back it changed and Alfie kicked on.
This is a chance for Perry and/or Broom to take on a more forward role and play with more freedom and take up the scoring mantle.
Also, with Olayinka to come back, with Brown and Horton getting up to speed, fitness and sharpness I think we can keep doing well without May.
He will have to fight for his place when back to fitness. Hopefully this dampens any January transfer interest in him!

Whilst you're right in that he could have come off because we were comfortable - Shade is also right in that the injury was unrelated to the two times he'd gone down before. The ankle ligament injury was down to getting his boots caught in the ground and then twisting his ankle. That could have happened at any minute of the game, it just looks worse because he'd been down twice and we were comfortable.longmover wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 08:56Not really he's our biggest asset (and needs to be protected) if he doesn't need to be on the pitch then take him off. If we never start him or play him again he won’t get injured so let’s do that.Si Robin wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 09:38Whilst you're right in that he could have come off because we were comfortable - Shade is also right in that the injury was unrelated to the two times he'd gone down before. Wade of course was slated for ‘managing minutes’ when not starting May.

Thanks. This ‘management by hindsight’ lark is easy.longmover wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 10:48Good oneRegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 10:29If we never start him or play him again he won’t get injured so let’s do that.Si Robin wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 09:38

I said it at the time, as did others around me. Alfie was limping as he went across to the bench for a drink, Lloyd was already waiting to come on. Should've been a no-brainer. Not exactly hindsight!RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑05 Oct 2022, 11:11Thanks. Looking at the fixtures for the next two months, its probably the "best" time for him to be injured, with only two (league) games in November and Octobers fixtures are predominantly against teams (on our recent form) which we can manage without him.
fingers crossed.
fingers crossed.
I've got 20/20 hindsight. I agree it was obvious Alfie was struggling , 2-0 up minutes to go ...........tunnelvision wrote: ↑06 Oct 2022, 08:18I said it at the time, as did others around me.
