Mark Halliwell is a regular on the Robins Report podcast and is the professional being referred to here.

In the past JP has made the occasional appearance once or twice a season, I think?

He was originally a presenter with Tom, but it changed after we played Crewe. He was on it a few times last season.

Ah yes. I was never sure whether the current version of the podcast was the same as Tom’s or not.

I always enjoy when JP makes a special guest appearance. A bit like when Rory Smith or Guillem Balagué are on the Monday Night Club.

Disagree with Dave at the end of last week's pod at the end where he says as a club we are boring and just a club that's existing, doing nothing innovative.

Halliwell says our successes have been due to good managers which I agree with to an extent.

We have done something different in the past few years with recruitment and that is with character references. There are no d!ckheads in the squad. Shame can't be said in our fan base (those type on social media). There is harmony within the group and that is something that you hear in interviews constantly, even when we are on a bad run.

Our bad run this season has come at the begginning and its likely that we're not at the end of it. The mood is low and so much pessimissm from the panel last week, which is understandable. It's just tough to listen to. A lot can change though with a goal or two and a win.

Getting Southwood back, Curtis Davis (who was on 30k a week supposedly at Derby), Curtis Thompson (a proven, experienced League One / Championship midfielder) was exactly what we needed in the summer to add to the squad. We had to be patient to get the type of loan players we needed and these young, pacey, creative attacking options we have are exciting. The past few years have proven that we can attract top young players from big clubs.

Moving away from the 352 to a 5 box 1 with the two number 10s drifting out wide in attack feels more exciting and the type of players brought in at the end of the window suits that. We can go to a back 4 as a plan B in games if needed as well. Wade needs more time to apply this. He has earned enough credit after he was able to turn around our form and keep us up comfortably last season.

If we were mid-table right now, having won a couple of games, then no-one would be questioning the board or shareholders and no-one would be doing deep dives into how much influence the Trust have, etc...

We've started shite, had a lot of injuries, and the football has been dire. I agree it's dragged down all of the optimism from pre-season, but we're not down yet and there's still 40 games to go.
Partially true. Jenny would still have resigned even if e were mid-table. The response from fans has probably been more intense that it might otherwise have been, but it would have been an issue regardless.

Agreed. All the current situation does is shine a light.

It seems apparent to me Jenny was treated very poorly by the Club.

That would have happened regardless of whether were top of the league or bottom of the league.

I actually think it is a good thing that our poor form means fans are reacting more intensely and with more scrutiny. The Club/Board should always be held to account and subject to scrutiny regardless of form on the pitch.

Could be a heated episode with RoamingRobbins seemingly a vocal Wade Outer. Looks to be a kid so I guess the others on the pod aren’t going to have gone too hard on him.

3 hrs is mad!

Life is too short!

Nobody has the time or the will at the moment to bother listening to all of that.

Did you ever consider 'editing' things to a more digestible 30 mins?

Speak for yourself... I had an 8 hour shift to get through at work yesterday and was a good listen, if possible next episode to be 7 hours long

Apart from those who already have and come back to us with positive feedback.

No-one's forcing you to listen, and it really isn't like we do 3 hour pods often, in fact this is our longest by over an hour I believe.

We'll be back to the 1-1.5 hrs long next week.

I think I could mate, not sure the others have the appetite though - a couple were absolutely shattered by the time we finished at 00:35 or so on Thursday morning. That Tom had it out within 45 mins or so was nothing short of miraculous.

If you do want a long pod though, and like old Top of the Pops (especially from the 70s and 80s), then I highly recommend Chart Music. It's my favourite pod that comes out once a month or so and runs up to 6.5hrs long.

Got through the podcast over the last few days.

Very good debate and a good listen.

Matt couldn’t quite mask his glee at the way Wade was treated, but made a good effort as the diplomatic wing of the Facebook/Block 1 mob.

I agree that of the names mentioned Clarke is best option. Maybe I am just ‘little old Cheltenham’ but I can’t see someone like Clarke wanting this job done with salary on offer.

Confirmation received from Tom this morning that we have smashed our most listens in a week.

So a massive thank you to anyone who has listened (so much for no-one having the time or inclination to listen to a 3 hour pod).

Have way better ways to utilise my time other than voluntarily endure three hours of depression.
For starters, I have to make sure that both laces in my shoe collection are of exactly the same length, and that all my socks are ironed and folded correctly and filed away alphabetically in colour order.

I know they have some particularly onerous laws in Switzerland about when and what you can do (no taking out bins on a Sunday etc) but not heard those ones before.

You are not allowed to do laundry on a Sunday.
However, it's a high wage/low tax economy. Bojo's dream? 🤣

Just realised you said “both laces” in your shoe collection. Suggesting your collection only consists of one pair of shoes?

On Si’s “people writing the season off” bugbear:

Two years ago Nottingham Forest took 1 point from their first seven games and were bottom of the table staring down the barrel of L1. They sacked Chris Hughton at the end of Sept and appointed Steve Cooper and won the Championship play-off final at Wembley in May.

Que sera sera……….

I’m not writing the season off. It’s likely we will go down and we understandably favourites. That doesn’t mean I stop believing we can stay up or stop watching the each game believing we can win.

I don't think we're going down. We might. Could very well. But there's still far too much of the season to go and lots of unknowns ahead. I still think this squad is good enough. Like an engine badly in need of a service and oil change, let's hope the new manager is the mechanic we require to get it running smoothly, and with less parts breaking down all the time. If he can add a turbo and put in some premium fuel then even better...

Halliwell was apoplectic about the "worst goal he's ever seen a Cheltenham team concede" against Stevenage.

Probably best you don't mention the second goal last night. Unless you have a defibrillator on standby.
