Standby for an extra special episode this weekend (we're hoping Sunday).

I'm still completely buzzing from it.

Nice, love a bonus pod. I'm guessing at some sort of interview....

If this ends up being the podcast version of "stay up, we've got more business", "We've sold X to Y" of transfer deadline night, there will be riots.

Thanks guys.
An informative episode.
I don't tend to listen unless there is a special guest on and it's good to have a manager who is pretty open and revealing.

...if that makes sense 😀

Good 51 mins that.

I wish the clubs media department was a little more pro active with content like this. Helps us to understand decisions…….. if that makes sense

Great insight, DC is very savvy when it comes to the (modern) connections with the fans, getting onboard with an independent fans podcast is fantastic access to a manager.

He's still not happy with the Seasons is he.

One would think that on occasions Whaddon Road could be used for training , particularly when we have a few players who've never played on the pitch.
Doesn't it only get used around 35 times per annum?

you'd think that would be an option but the grounds man went mad when the crossbar challenge went ahead during one game so wouldn't be best pleased if a full training session took place on it. But needs must at times so don't know why this isn't an outlet for the team every know and then.

As long as it was only occasionally. We don't want to go back to the days of the Gloucester groundshare when they absolutely trashed our pitch and it was like playing on a ploughed field..

Fascinating to have a little glimpse into pressures on club finances this week.

Gav Crowe on Ornithology asking for £22k for a piece of rehab equipment. DC wanting the Seasons pitch upgraded. Fans wanting a new Main Stand. Oh, and a proven centre-forward.

Don't envy the Board having to make these calls at all.

I reckon something like the rehab equipment could be raised pretty quickly by fans if a short campaign was put in place that was well publicised eg a Just Giving page and bucket collections before & after games.

This 'special' was excellent. Many thanks to all involved. Straight talking... loads of good answers (for me) to some key questions.

Pleased, also, you asked / touched-on Russ and recruitment. I have never envisaged RM , in isolation, driving recruitment - more as helping to chase and facilitate. (Wayne always said we have lots of targets ongoing...). I see RM working hard to just try to keep certain balls in the air, representing 'collective' target players / positional need objectives. Add in the mix that we have little financial clout - and, this season, that fundemental has also to be coupled to our league position based 'pulling-power'.

Back to the interview. Well done.

DC is a manager who knows what he wants and how he is going to do it. With many of the Lg ! managers getting a hell of a lot of stick from their fans, we are very lucky to have him. Just hope we survive this season and see how DC can push us on. He said he is not interested in just surviving in a league, he wants to progress any team he is a manager of.
Players have now proved since DC came in we are capable of being mid table team if DC was here from the start. Some good additions and who knows where DC can push us further.

Excellent pod and interesting to get the honest thoughts of the Gaffer.

Going to be really fascinating over the period DC is here to see how the dynamic between himself and or board works out. Darrell is obviously going to push, prod and cajole as much out of them as he possibly can both in terms of playing staff and off field matters, probably more than they have ever been tested before and it will be interesting to see how much he will be backed and how much will be told 'no it can't be done'. Then it will be even more interesting to see who gets fed up with who first and how long that takes!

At the risk of tempting fate, I wonder how the contributors from the listeners’ special now rate the transfer window.

I thought this, not going to pretend I was massively positive on the window (I ranked it a 6/10), but some of the negativity towards it seems misplaced now. Kinsella, Taylor and Shepherd proving very good pick ups. Jury still out on Harrop, Smith and Nuttall - is Smith injured or just dropped after a couple of rocky performances?

Thomas I think we'll only see again if we're down in the last 15 minutes or 3-0 up and cruising, but still think he'll prove a very good signing.

I agree, although I think we may see Thomas if, as we get closer to the end of the season, we have to roll the dice to turn a draw into a win.

Rare factual error from Mark Halliwell and repeated by Owen. He said we had never won four games in a row in League One.

We have: JP Tweeted the other day we won four on the bounce in 2007/2008. Vale (h), Bournemouth (h), Hartlepool (a), Carlisle (h).

didn't he also say we had never lost to portsmouth at WR.
