Looks like he is very composed when finishing, which we hugely lack. Good pace too.

Sound an interesting / exciting signing

Only one slight nagging doubt. If League of Ireland doesn’t start for 3 weeks, is he still relatively early in his pre-season and will he be match for? Guess one could argue he will be fresh legs.

If he is as good as the last footballer we got from Sligo .....................

Great signing , but we still need a target man and a midfielder playmaker

time to offload some of the dross

One of the things I noticed. Their first pre season game isn't for 3 weeks yet so must still be quite early. Having said that, I'd imagine he will still start despite not being fully up to speed. A very exciting signing and it's a pleasant sight to see us making it because it is very Un-Cheltenham-like and there have been a number of LOI players who have come to England and done very well so fingers crossed he will be another.

Even if he doesn't start for a while at least it's an option off the bench

This could be the defining signing of the Moore-Wade era. If he flops, then is that the end of the road for Moore here? If he scores this season and even more next and gets sold for £3-5 million then it crowns a magnificent three years.

This is our record fee, with reports that additional funding was released by the Board, so extra scrutiny and higher stakes compared to the normal free transfer punt.

Tranmere had a bid rejected for him last week. Hopefully this signing pays off. Welcome Aidan!

Tranmere and Colchester both had five figure bids rejected this month apparently. Let's just hope he's better than the last player we signed that Tranmere also wanted.

Anyone have an idea as to what kind of striker he is? Is he more May or more Etete?

Is he more likely to create or finish?

I agree, big fee for the club and lots of players now on longer deals. This needs to be a good one and enough to keep us up. A bit of gamble with any signing but Keena hasn't played in England or a competitive game since November, hope we know what we're doing!

LOI players nearly always have some sort of upbringing in Gaelic football. So the physical side of English football shouldn’t trouble him at all. He’ll come in ready to go.

Here’s an optimistic take: It’s 20 years since my other club, Reading, signed two players from Cork City for £75k each. They were Kevin Doyle and Shane Long. Doyle was 22 and already a proven goal scorer in the LOI. Uncanny parallels.

Was hoping for a bit more insight. Based on YouTube highlights reel, Ellis Chapman is Steven Gerrard.

I agree - I've never seen the point of those highlight reels. I could put together a reel of my best badminton shots over the course of the last 30 years and you'd swear I was a match for Lin Dan.

No it doesn't - otherwise the club wouldn't have put out the dreadful Keenan and Kel meme linking them as partners.

Well quite. That’s one question, and if the answer to that is ‘no’ and we play both, the next question is ‘who’s creating the chances’?

He will be fitter than what we have in his position at present, but a few of our squad don`t look fit for 90 mins.

The one of them that doesn't put the ball in the goal.

Who's creating the chances...we usually have plenty of shots in a game but nobody puts them away...the stats show we need a goalscorer, and that is why the men in the know have plumped for another striker rather than a creative midfielder.
