Can't wait for all the fannying around before next Saturday. Head on the block prediction time.
Have a good laugh!!

1 Derby
2 Bolton
3 Blackpool
4 Bristol Rovers
5 Portsmouth
6 Lincoln
7 Oxford
8 Barnsley
9 Charlton
10 Peterboro
11 Cheltenham
12 Fleetwood
13 Wycombe
14 Burton
15 Wigan
16 Stevenage
17 Reading
18 Leyton Orient
19 Shrewsbury
20 Exeter
21Cambridge
22 Port Vale
23 Carlisle
24 Northampton

Hope Cambridge stay up but lost a few players.
Exeter the team near me seem a bit behind for the start of the season but also hope they stay up.
Bristol Lincoln and Oxford to do well this year.
Pressure on the big boys, Charlton, Peterboro, Portsmouth, Barnsley to get promoted. Poor start and manager heads will roll.
Derby should win although they lost top scorer.
And what's that ...little old Cheltenham 11th!!!! Slight improvement on 14th and 16th..so not unbelievable is it?
Reading and Wigan with probs.
Blackpool still got some Championship players and decent Manager.

And win the play off...good man ! I was tempted to go full on with my prediction...but 11th is not to bad. Happy to be higher though. Just need a good start in those first 10 games and get in amongst the playoff positions.

Play offs are a lottery but here’s my logic:

We’re stronger than last year
The league is weaker than last year
We got away with a few (Ipswich at home for example!) but a few games we could’ve nicked a few more points
A few of the stronger teams may go bust

Plus I think Elliot is a very underestimated chap.

Let’s see shall we!!

Is it much weaker, really? Okay, maybe at the top end it has gone down - but I'd argue that the lower ranked teams that we need to be beating are generally stronger. Not sure there's an obvious Morecambe or FGR in there this year (though not in our wettest dream did any of us expect the latter to capitulate the way they did).

Gonna give this a go for the fun of it, but my insight into most of the other clubs in League One is surface level at best!

1 Bolton
2 Derby
3 Portsmouth
4 Blackpool
5 Charlton
6 Peterborough
7 Barnsley
8 Lincoln
9 Oxford
10 Bristol Rovers
11 Burton
12 Wycombe
13 Wigan
14 Reading
15 Fleetwood
16 Cheltenham
17 Leyton Orient
18 Exeter
19 Shrewsbury
20 Port Vale
21 Stevenage
22 Northampton Town
23 Carlisle Utd
24 Cambridge Utd

I wouldn't be surprised to see Reading do much worse than that, but they still have a few good players and if their new signing are allowed to play they'll be quality additions. Depends on how things go off the field.

I think both Oxford and Burton have had really good summers, so won't be anywhere near the relegation mix. Lincoln too I think could be pushing play offs. I have a feeling Barnsley will struggle without Duff, wouldn't be surprised to see them mid table but played it safe in my prediction.

It will be fun to revisit this next May to see how badly wrong we all got it!

BBC Sport website is currently doing the EFL, assessing how each club will do, club by club on a live text feed. They have managed to fudge it so Wrexham were first up, by starting in League Two and going reverse alphabetical order

You do you, beeb...

72+ on BBC sounds also has a season preview episode. Aaron Paul, Joni McAnuff and Jed Wallace host and interview our very own Curtis Davies.

They start at the other end, Champo, so fast forward the first 30 minutes bleating on about Leeds, Leicester and Saints.

Hard to argue with that after that first match. Did you see the goals? Their defence was absolutely woeful. And their manager said "We've signed the best keeper in League One".

True. Although first match results are never things to react to or base predictions on.

I was basing it on their inexorable slide down the table last season…reminiscent of the final season Downing kept us up, and we all remember how calamitous the following campaign was.

Something tells me you wouldn't have put Barnsley 1st, Port vale 24th and Cheltenham in 20th before Saturday

Very true!! The way people are playing this game I’ll reserve the right to wait until after the 45th game to make my prediction

Believe what you like. I have made it perfectly clear on other threads there’s no need to be negative or over react after Saturday.

20th for Cheltenham is an over achievement given our budget.

As for Barnsley, it’s the Duff pattern. Play off heart break followed by the title.

I already explained Vale were the worst team in the league after FGR from Christmas onwards and that didn’t change over the summer.

I always remember when Norwich lost 7-0 on the opening day and won the league one title. Only morons react and make predictions based on game one.

This is only loosely connected to this topic, but I'm not sure many of us knew all this.
Apart from that font of all knowledge Mark Halliwell of course.

My bottom two are in the top half. Tells you all you need to know. But I have the top three, albeit currently in the wrong order.
