If we are a league one side next season, then would this season be on-par with Steve Cotterill's 98/99 team that got promoted to the football league?

Will Darrell Clarke's name become eternalized in the footballing sacred halls and minds of the Whaddon Road faithful.

Three points on Saturday would be a huge craw up from the foot of the metaphorical mountain.

No, polar opposite because we were 2nd favourites to win the league then and everyone expected us to give it a good go. At the moment I doubt many people give us any real chance.

But we were near odds on favourites to go down at the very start of the current season. Then the disastrous start.

It won't be as close to being on a par with the 98/99 promotion. That achievement is the greatest in the club's history. Without it we wouldn't even be discussing if it was possible to stay up this season.

I know we live in a World where everything has to be the greatest or best ever for some reason, but I don't even think reaching safety should be seen as absolutely miraculous (and I fully appreciate I'm in a minority of one here). This division is poor and we've never been cut adrift at the bottom. I think the most we've been behind is 9 points, which with 2/3s of the season to go is not insurmountable.

I'm with you. Cup games aside, when Clarke didn't play our best side in either game for one reason and another, we have 6 points from the last 9 and currently sit 6 points behind the first safe place with a whopping 31 games to go. There is also another transfer window to come yet. We have also scored at least one goal in all of our last four league games now.

Saying that, I'm still going to be going into every game, at least for a while, expecting us to play like c!#p. Wigan have won 4 of their last 5 in the league and are obviously out of position due to their points deductions. I think they'd be sat in 7th if they had the points back.

Also, winning League 2 was the greatest achievement for me. Winning the Conference and then the National League were the two most important achievements, though, imo.

I have backed Wigan to go up despite points docked.

Today will no doubt be a tough game.

I woukd take take a point.

Crowd need a good performance to make up for the shambolic Cup performances by the fringe players.

DC in mix for manger of month speaks volumes for the great work already done. But we are still miles off.

Like others have said and I agree...Will be easier to try and stay up than gain promotion next year imo

You're not in a minority at all.

And we have live proof of how quickly things can change. Exeter were top when we lost there in September. Seven weeks later they have plummeted down to 20th. Football is a mad sport and this division is very meh, so we are far from toast afaiac.
