Whilst last night was gut wrenching both with our result and others, particularly the Exeter one and we lost some ground, looking at the table it is so tight above the relegation zone. 5 teams on 30 points and another two only one point ahead of them and we have game(s) in hand on a good few of those, so hope isn't lost.

We are playing well and fighting hard but the 11 game head start we gave everyone was always going to be a massive issue. Generally since Darrell took over other results have gone our way so we haven't lost any ground but there was always going to come a time when we took a step back. If we can get away with not falling any further behind this weekend we will still be in a decent place having effectively finished with three of the top four and a run of eminently winnable games in February.

I said similar last night. We're still playing well and the results aren't always going to go our way.

Get Derby out of the way then knuckle down for the run-in!

Similar performance to last night on Saturday would be great - and I'm sure that's what we'll see. The likes of Shrewsbury and Wycombe still look vulnerable to me, if we can just pick up a few results in the next few weeks.

By accounts, Derby were pitiful last night.

No shots on target, outmuscled and outfought. The view among some of their fans is that they are powder puff and don't like being beaten up by teams that get in their face.

Becoming strangely optimistic for Saturday..........

Wycombe have just signed Burtons top scorer. That's the bad news.
Good news he won't be playing against us for the 2 game we have to play Burton.
Just hope he pulls a hamstring this wed night!!

Port Vale have sacked Andy Crosby. New manager bounce probably enough to take one of the last teams we are hoping to catch out of our reach😣

We have two games in hand on Charlton, Burton and Exeter. Win those two (a big if, of course) and that takes us within 2, 3 and 4 points respectively. With the two games against Burton being classic 6 pointers. All of the above have got to come to Whaddon Road (Charlton on a Tuesday night, under the lights).

It's far from over.

You are right of course Jerry but I am afraid my hopes for salvation all but disappeared last Saturday. The old Cheltenham failings of not turning up against the teams around us came back to haunt us again and I just don't have confidence that the defence will keep enough clean sheets and that our attack will score enough goals.

I am undoubtedly being overly pessimistic but the bottom line is we have won six games all season and we have to win three to overtake fifth bottom. DC will have the boys fighting no doubt and I will be at Burton tonight but I just can't see it.

I reckon they are more likely to go for Gareth Ainsworth as an ex playing hero of theirs.

That would be a good appointment for them and probably keep them up. I'm not a huge fan of his football, but I can imagine he'd be the perfect character to galvanise an average squad.

Didn't he play Duncan in the BBC drama Shetland? Wasn't in the latest series - that'd be why, then.

Cambridge v Bolton abandoned after 11 mins due to waterlogged pitch! Bolton and us must have had more matches abandoned and postponed than anyone else in the country this season.

And our fans were whinging on social media about the game being called off late...

Exeter 1 down but Fleetwood and Reading both 1 up approaching half time. Feels like these f#!$ have kicked on and we just keep stalling one way or another week after week. Postponements, dodgy officiating, injuries, and short spells of bad play. Don't it make ya wanna scream.

Reading have been absolutely battered by Stevenage. Real smash and grab. Pitch is very wet and the ball holding up quite badly so watch this space for an abandonment………

I've got my fingers crossed. Knowing our luck Stevenage will get in front and then it'll be abandoned!

Fleetwood 2 up but Vale and Exeter both a goal down now but Peterborough are down to 10 at Exeter.

They're all getting battered on the stats, even Fleetwood at Bristol Rovers...

Results not going our way at all apart from PVFC

It’s going to be a fight and I’m not sure we have enough in the tank for it. The only hope we had with the new manager bounce seems to of fizzled out……

"If we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all."

The own goals and winning when having somewhere between 3 to 10 less shots than the opposition...coming back to get a lucky win when the opposition have a man sent off...when do we get those breaks?! I'm patiently waiting.

Port Vale to sneak a last gasp equaliser despite being absolutely battered in every stat?

Nope, they're unable to compound our misery. One tiny bright spot, at least, in a terribly dark night.

Now 8 (EIGHT) points behind Reading and Charlton with 2 games in hand. With a much worse GD.

Yep that's not an ideal set of results. It's still down to what we do, and I'll still be surprised if 50 points isn't enough. Gonna need 1.5 points per game from now on though... let's hope all our luck comes in these next 18 games

Looking at the L1 table; even the most optimistic amongst us must be extremely worried.

GAME OVER the road to L2 has began.

As crazy as it sounds, it is still entirely in our own hands. With our games in hand and the teams we have left to play we can overtake at least 3 teams - maybe 4.

It's statistically unlikely, but whilst it is still technically in our own hands, I refuse to give up.

Saturday was a huge blow. The fortunate thing is we still play a lot of those around the bottom 8 and many at home. It's all about how we respond to Saturday.

I think a lot of people expected us to roll over Wycombe after the performances against Pompey, Bolton and Derby. Teams aren't just going to roll over for us though. We have to maintain the right attitude. Take the game to every opponent and the team needs us to get behind them rather than giving up with more than a third of the season still to go.
