Two and a half year contract for an over the hill 33 year old. Recruitment and forward thinking has been nothing short of a disgrace.

If he scores the goals to keep us in Lg1 it will be worth it.
IF being operative word.

It's just the other two years I'm a bit concerned about.....

Our policy of signing young talent on long deals paid off with Goodwin, so glad to see us doing it again! Now to take a big swig of tea and check Taylor’s birthdate on his wikipedia

Well I’d rather let DC do the football stuff than someone hiding behind a keyboard to be honest.

not the old, if you think you are better do it yourself argument, just because you have an opinion. Pretty strange if you apply that to all walks of life.

The only reason that I can see it being a 2.5 year contract is that either he gets his coaching badges and is looking to get into management, or he's here to pass on his (goalscoring) wisdom to Keena, Lloyd and Nuttall.

Taylor has had a long relationship with DC and the manager knows how to get the best out of him - he played under DC at both Bristol Rovers and Port Vale.

Taylor may not have the legs anymore, but he's scored 150-odd goals in 460 odd games all the way from the Conference to the Championship so he's got a lots of knowledge that could help out the less experienced strikers on our books🤔🤞

We haven't - just his wages. But for two and half years, that won't be cheap.

I'm entitled to have an opinion as is everyone else. I hope the new arrivals prove me wrong but they certainly don't fill me with any confidence.

Absolutely. I’d like it explained why it’s a “disgrace.” Maybe the poster fancies asking that to DC. Let’s see what happens on the pitch.

Take a look on X/Twitter and you'll see the disbelief and anger from supporters regarding the recruitment and planning. It's not DC that's the issue, it's the board and the so called 'Head of Recruitment' Russell Milton.
It's hard to remember a more disappointing transfer window than this. Handing out 2 and a half year deals to 33 year olds doesn't seem like sensible business to me. He will also be one of the highest earners at the club.

He won't be cheap and I imagine he's had a signing on fee too.
Interesting to see he was believed to be DCs top target all window. I suppose the move was finally on once Doidge signed on at the circus up the hill.

I very much doubt DC would have had any players foisted on him by the board or Russ Milton.
It is I'm afraid reflective of where we play in the L1 pond at the moment.
But 2.5 years doesn't make a whole lot sense at first glance.

We didn't mind Tony Naylor's age when he was banging them in for us for a couple of years.

Might turn out like Naylor, Reg Varney or Larry....who knows. But on the face of it, unless it looks a significant risk.

A couple of years? Half a year, surely? The following season, he was the shape of a barrel.

The oiled DC machine is greater than the sum of the parts. Some people need to put their big boy pants on at least for a couple of games.

Yep, they want to be here and they are now one of us. So 3 points tomorrow please gents. COYR
I have little interest in past players who like soap opera actors, left to do better things -and usually don't. All that matters is the 11 on the pitch at any given moment who want to be here.

One potential reason for the longer than usual contract could have been us being unable (or unwilling) to match his FGR wages, so the only way to get it over the line was to lengthen the contract.

That’s just a guess of course as have no idea what he was on at FGR, but it’s just very unusual for us to hand out lengthy contracts like that to players his age. That’s normally only reserved for younger star players to protect their value.

And now confirmed that he has a hamstring injury.

Going for a scan this week. Really doesn't look promising.

I'm sorry to tell you Horteng that he is our back up.
He's akin to going into battle with a pea shooter...without any peas.
If he's in our starting eleven on Saturday we will be playing with one up front as some have suggested we try.

So that leaves us with three strikers. One has scored in one game this season, one hasn‘t scored this season and the other doesn‘t even look like a professional footballer.

Trouble is how long would it take a free agent to get match fit? Amazing how Nuttall managed to get injured without ever actually getting on the pitch 🙄
