The man overseeing either Town's swansong in L1 or the greatest miracle of miracles will be Lee Swabey

We have a very decent record under Swabey over the last 5 or 6 years. A 4-0 thrashing at Portsmouth a couple of years ago aside, he's officiated in wins over Milton Keynes, Bristol Rovers, Gillingham, Morecambe and draws against Crewe (when he helpfully sent off Perry Ng) and Barnet.

The only other recent blot was a 1-0 defeat at Newport when he dismissed Will Boyle.

Fun fact: Two of the Cheltenham games he's handled featured Ilias Chatzitheodoridis who, apparently, played 18 games for us. No, me neither.

Lee Swabey may well be a name that goes down in our history. For all the right reasons hopefully.

Can’t lay any of it on the ref. Thought he was pernickety but fair.

The penalty looked soft, but no complaints from any of our players so assume it was justifiable.

As you say, he was a bit quick to give soft fouls but overall far from the worst ref we have had. Can't argue with the penalty. I'd have been screaming for it (doubt we would have been given it, though...)
