JP reporting "Cheltenham Town have had five trialists in this week. They will be taking a longer look at two of them #ctfc"

Not sure what to make of that

Sounds like panic to me

Seriously, I hope that one of them is a Denis Irwin type player who is comfortable at LB or RB ;)

Sounds like we have significant injuries that can't be legislated for so we're looking to get someone in on a short term deal.

Presumably these are all players out of contract and without a club since the summer.
Probably a few gems out there but you always worry about their match fitness and whether they can slot in. We’ll see.

Christ if it means we can play the formation and style he wants then lets just run with it for a few games, with a settled side 8-) .

At least looks like Flynn is being proactive. He's clearly been unhappy with certain players performances.

Makes a change from the usual "We'll go with what we've got".

And this is the thing, if he did "go with what we've got" he'd have been criticised for that as well.

I fear we're reaching a point with Flynn and Johnson, especially on social media, whereby anything they do will be criticised.

I said it before and I will say it again for all the justifiable criticism of the board they have backed Flynn and Johnson to the hilt financially. Yet again they are increasing the budget to add yet another signing, or perhaps even two.

I presume this refers to footy players rather than the management and coaching side! :)

But why not play the formation and style that suits the squad rather than trying to accommodate one player?

Where could we possibly say we've seen him in town if he were to get close to signing...?

Previously on loan at Kidderminster. All fits. I’ll circulate a photo and we’ll rotate sentry duty on the tax dodging American coffee chain branch on the Prom.

There are some decent names on there, didn't Matt Penney score for Ipswich against us a few years back? No doubt it will end up being some random like the guy who signed under GJ played half a game at Accrington and disappeared.

well he's not going to drop Bennet is he, so lets play a formation with him in his best position so we can then have a settled side for a few games.

Trialists may not all be non contracted, Sometimes players train with a view to a loan in the next window. I would rather see Wilcox or Liggett in the squad . Willcox is one of the few in the squad who likes a tackle.

Touche!

The bottom three, I think, are Welsh. But if their clubs want to play in the English pyramid.......

We still need a left back, would hope we sign one of the trialists this week as apparently Lang has gone back to West Ham so we are a defender short.

Sohna does a more than passable impression of a left back.

He did well on Tuesday but he was clearly playing in a positon he's not used too, we can't assume he's the solution. Ideally we sign a proper left back and send Shipley back to Norwich in January.

Neither can we assume he isn't the solution, or that if a left-back with more games under their belt in the position comes in, they're any better than Harrison can be. I agree Shipley has been disappointing.

To have his injury assessed- not forever.

I thought Shipley has been alright just not at wing back. If we do stick with 4 at the back (fingers crossed) then losing Laing won't be much of an issue

Yes but that's kind of my point we can then let Sohna compete with a proper left back and release Shipley back to Norwich. I don't want to try Sohna for 3-4 games and then sign a trialist because it was not working.

As always If a player becomes available who is a better left-back than Sohna and Payne, and there's the budget available, then sign them on. If not, stick with what we've got. Sohna did well Tuesday, and Payne is a proven left back.
