Help needed if possible! One of our overseas supporters has contacted me because he is unable to access the forum. The situation will be monitored closely in future games and appropriate action taken where necessary. As ...

Re: The 92

We played at St Andrews in the FA Cup in the late 80s. Actually 17/11/1990. Good day out that was, even though we lost 0-1. Like our trip to Bloomfield Road in 2001 (another great day out,) half the ground was shut off if I recall, also like our trip to Wolves in the FA Cup in 1987, when we lost 1-...

We also played Aston Villa Reserves at Villa Park in the Worcestershire Senior Cup in the 1930s (yes, I know neither Cheltenham nor Aston is in Worcestershire :D ) and we played at Cardiff City Stadium in a pre-season friendly last year.

Good to hear that some of you stayed on to the end at least! In all seriousness, it’s good to get feedback and I’ll certainly try to concentrate entirely on the game next time I get asked to fill in. I only tend to do it when nobody else is available and today James and I were literally the last men...

Re: Question for Paul Godfrey.

League rules require each team's colours to be 'clearly distinguishable' from each other and both clubs have to notify the match referee in advance of the game of their intended colours. The referee makes the ultimate decision and in my experience, some are a lot more fussy than others. The other fa...

Re: So what are the salary cap rules

Clubs have to put in submissions twice a season regarding their funding, playing budgets etc. Once the 55% limit is reached the EFL stop accepting new player registrations until a club has freed up some funds (e.g. by moving players out) or secures additional funding. I think most people felt that K...

Re: Blackpool v Cheltenham Town

The answer is because there is no real structure around pre-season matches - they are effectively training sessions and even a banned player is allowed to train and keep fit. Only in extreme cases would a player be charged with misconduct or given a suspension as a result of a pre-season match. This...

Genuinely one of the best goals I've seen scored by a Cheltenham Town player. Weather and mud were atrocious but Brooks just kept going with the ball. County Cup is an awkward one from a historian/statistician point of view. My approach has been to use the FA's disciplinary rules as a guide. Prior to our promotion to the Football League in 1999 County Cup was always counted as a first team game. Not long after that, however, the FA changed the dis...

Longest league run is 20 games. This was set in season 1994-95 under Lindsay Parsons. Either side of the run were home and away defeats to Burton Albion that went a long way t...
