Re: Michael Flynn after draw at Doncaster

Travelling from an area with a red weather warning, a tricky coach journey up on the morning and got a draw at one of the best teams in the division. Very impressive.

Re: Doncaster Rovers v Cheltenham Town

Was that in between all the other drivel? When you listen to the Gloucester Rugby commentary (not that I do), it’s so professional but ours is just about someone from Bishop’s Cleeve on Facebook who isn’t travelling and loads of other tripe. I wonder if the FGR commentators give out our score durin...

Re: Michael Flynn after draw at Doncaster

A minor point from the interview, but Flynn says that he travelled up from home in Wales.

Did he travel to Doncaster separately from the team? Or did he join up with them on the bus? Or did the team overnight in Doncaster? What about Downes and the other coaches? Is that the normal arrangement?

6200 at Doncaster today. They’re a club who traditionally are a Division 4 team, occasionally getting up into the third tier, occasionally dropping into non-league in their recent history. Not a million miles away from a certain club in Gloucestershire. Yes, they’re doing well this season but today’...

Cardiff, Newport and Plymouth are already off.

I expect many more will follow. Everton v Liverpool might be the most high profile casualty. 68mph winds forecast for kickoff.

Doncaster away

With apologies to Shade who, like me, may think there’s a good possibility of a postponement. Currently 55mph gusts and steady rain forecast in Doncaster. The man who will make the call is Scott Simpson who takes charge of his second ever Cheltenham game, the first being the eventful win over Oxford...

Not in my knowledge sphere, but I guess most if not all of the lads don't take a salary out of the club? If that is the case then, I see his point. Re: Michael Flynn after Port Vale draw

Flynn alludes to self-reflection in interviews but never actually says “I screwed up with my subs”. Maybe that would be a fruitless piece of mea culpa, but I do wonder if he genuinely reflects on his decisions and takes his share of the blame. Or whether he thinks Taylor/Laing were good calls last n...

The thing I can’t get my head around is building an eco stadium next to a motorway junction in the middle of nowhere meaning the vast majority of people will need to get there using the most inefficient, environmentally destructive means of travel possible - cars. Old farts like me will remember when there was no board held up showing added time. The game just carried on until the ref blew up and it was anyone’s guess when that might be. If that game had been played in 1995 we’d all be focussing on the defensive frailties and decision-making than the minutiae...

Re: New stand development

On a point of order, the talk about replacing the PRE with a seated stand is slightly disrespectful to the very many Cheltenham fans who choose to stand at football. Forcing people to sit down is, thankfully, now a discredited approach. Any redevelopment needs to incorporate standing accommodation (...

It’d be a logistical headache for us more for all the functions that we rely on the Main Stand for - changing rooms, offices, hospitality, The Nest, ticket office, club shop. All of these would need temporary accommodation somewhere. Portakabins in Cakebridge maybe!?

So many variables. From Cardiff’s perspective, one of their players is proving they are a cut above in L2 while learning all about the rough and tumble of men’s football. A good win, especially as we’ve got some tough games coming up.
