Re: Steve Cotterill
A longer contract that I was expecting - assumed it would be until the summer and then have a review from there. What a boost for the club though - who cares if he was FGR manager for a bit, I certainly don’t. Even if he wasn’t called Steve Cotterill he’s probably the best manager we could attract r...

How about a (relatively) local name not mentioned by anyone yet - Andy Peaks of Tamworth.
Took them from the Southern League to the top half of the National League, all whilst part time which is an amazing achievement.

Re: Steve Evans
Whilst I would suspect he’s on a list of Garlick’s ‘possibilities’, I think it would be unlikely they’d go for him at this point. If it were between him and Jon Brady for example then it would be Brady all day long, as that just seems like a much better fit. If however the list of applicants is spar...

York recently sacked Adam Hinshelwood, he’s a southerner apparently.
Was thinking the other day about the guy Oxford sacked for getting them promoted to the Championship. Turns out he’s now in the Saudi Pro League so maybe not a realistic target!

Re: Match on sky+ today
Can’t really say I’m seeing the point of these Sky + streams to be honest. It messes with the kick off times which leads to lower gates, and the streams themselves either don’t work properly (Salford) or are terrible quality with laggy audio (every game). How many people other than Cheltenham or Sal...

Re: Cheltenham Town v Bromley
The club feels like it’s in limbo at the moment until the takeover goes through. Whilst Flynn can’t really have any complaints if he does go, the current board aren’t going to be making the change as they’ll be seeing that as the new owners prerogative.

Re: period of exclusivity
I do believe the ownership tests have been ‘beefed up’ in recent years, presumably because of the flak they’ve taken after the collapse of Bury, Macclesfield and the various other crisis clubs. Even Gary Neville said recently that they took a long time to approve his recent ownership change at Salfo...

Perhaps one of the more wealthier National League clubs willing to pay a chunk of his wages.
Assume when we signed him we couldn’t match his FGR salary so had to offer him a longer deal to compensate - as we ordinarily don’t offer deals that long to players his age (or any age really).

Re: Steve Cotterill, unconfirmed reports…
Since being reformed Macclesfield have had the benefit of essentially being debt free, and have a big financial advantage over their competitors. Not that there’s anything wrong with that as it’s just a consequence of a former FL club being in the Northern League. However I wouldn’t read too much in...

Presumably need a third kit then - or the ‘mint’ away becomes the third choice.
Do we know if the home kit is staying as we normally keep them for 2 seasons?

I expect York will be back in the FL sooner rather than later, as they appear to have some financial muscle on them thanks to their new stadium and facilities.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see them go straight though League 2 like we’ve seen with some of the richer sides coming up.

Not unusual for big delays these days, but surely none of them will be given custodial sentences though?
Not a solicitor by any stretch but I wouldn’t expect affray to be anything more than a suspended sentence and fine for most people.

I wonder if they will stick with him for the Championship or if they will look to flog him as a ‘League 1 specialist’.

I very much doubt Flynn is in any real danger even if we lose all the remaining games - unless there is some serious board upheaval in the summer. What this does do though is give him absolutely no margin for error at the start of next season. If we get off to a ropey start and are 17th after 10 gam...

Appears the National League is pushing hard for another promotion spot into the EFL - still face the not inconsiderable hurdle of getting the EFL to vote for it though, so doubt will be any time soon in reality. Be interesting to see what our position would be on this, whilst there's the obvious ext...

Interesting, given the new Sky Sports + thing guarantees a certain amount of games (about 20+ from memory), that would imply that we aren’t due for any more 3pm games to be moved to a silly KO time in the future? Otherwise would seem strange to not broadcast this one when it’s already outside the bl...

Also I’d wish we’d stop wearing the away kit against teams in all white. Even though my eyes aren’t what they used to be it’s more of a clash than the home kit. At least wear black shorts and socks with it otherwise it’s just two very light kits against each other.

Won 3-0, not overly familiar with the history of Bishops Cleeve but must rank up there as one of their best results ever? Don’t recall them facing an ex-FL team very often.

There are some boundary changes which have brought parts of what used to be Cheltenham constituency into Tewkesbury.
However the poll tracker does seem to indicate the Labour and Lib Dem’s are splitting the vote nicely for the Tories, so the my may hold Tewkesbury because of that.

The fact he’s gone to Barnsley makes me feel slightly better about it all, even had he been under a longer contract he still would have gone regardless. I’d also question the necessity of broadcasting (or streaming on red button) most League 2 games. Say for example you’ve got Cheltenham vs Morecambe and it’s 12th vs 17th in March 2025. Realistically how many people are going to be watching that on TV? Less than 1000? If that game was selected they’...

Big TV/streaming changes for next season
Sky have just announced some big TV changes for next season. Appears every EFL team will be available on Sky’s new streaming platform at least 20 times a season. On the surface that does suggest to me that’s at least 20 games which won’t be a Sat 3pm KO, unless the blackout rules don’t apply to the ...
