Interesting, if hardly earth-shattering, article by Miguel Delaney in today's Independent on the increasing American ownership of, and interest and investment in, EFL football clubs, including below the Championship - currently 19 of the 72 are US-owned/controlled: https://www.independent.co.uk/spor...

I recall Chris Wilder, who has managed at every level up to and including the Premier League, saying that the NL is the hardest of the lot to get out of, and that was years ago. And with the ever-improving standards in the NL, both on and off the pitch (eg stadia, crowds etc); nearly all NL clubs be...

When I sat in the old main stand I could always pick out the scouts. Soon as the player they were watching was subbed off they disappear down the stairs a bit quick :D Thereby depriving themselves of the benefit of seeing how the team reacts without the target on the field i.e. improve or fall away...

Yes, I think clubs such as Cardiff buy prospects like Kyle Joseph and Kion Etete for 500k ish on the basis that if 1 in 10 comes good and earns them 10-20 million they're well in profit Peterboro are the kings of that game - eg £350k to Newcastle for a young, unwanted Ivan Toney, sold to Brentford ...

Be interesting to see the attendance... barely 2k there by the look BBC gives it as 1,605 - lowest of the night in 10 x Lge Two games. Probably couldn't have expected any more given all the circumstances, but still, that's pretty shocking. Bradford had 15,083 (190 away) vs Morecambe; Chesterfield 7...

I never for the life of me understand why we have the ball in the opposition half, don't see a way forward, and so end up going all the way back to the keeper, who then 9/10 times just hits it long, where we have a less than 50% chance of winning the ball back. May as well just hit it forward in ho...

Anyone got the stats for our average season attendances at Whaddon Road since we joined the EFL in 1999? Breakdown with home support and away support would be good too. Not sure whether this is entirely reliable, but Googling gives this: http://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attnclub/league/chl...

I saw Vince at Paddington Station one weekend just before Xmas (nice to see he uses eco-friendly public transport btw). He was with some lassie who looked about 20 years younger than him. He could have been showing his neice or Goddaughter around London, I suppose, but if not, he doesn't seem to hav...

This (interested) outsider didn't think his comments particularly disrespectful or exceptional.
And in my observation, Cheltenham is as much a rugby town as a football one, with most of the town's football fraternity following other teams, esp the Premier League.

It's nothing to do with the 3pm blackout (that's TV only) - it's simply because the club charge for online commentary and no-one will pay for it if they can get it for free through the BBC. Fair point, well made. 8-) Though if given a choice between paying for an online radio commentary, or popping...

And yet, the Prem clubs can find space in the window for a two legged League Cup semi final but not the possibility of a cup replay in the third round. It's quite honesty a disgrace. I think your anger is displaced. For one thing, the Lge Cup is run by the EFL, not the Prem Lge (or their members). ...

Can't find the article just now, but I read recently that the number of long range/outside the box goals had reduced markedly in the game in recent seasons. My mate questioned, given digital tickets, how hard it would be to have the technology for season ticket holders to click ‘not attending’ for a specific game which then releases the ticket for general sale. Anyone know if the prize money has increased since two years ago when we made it to the semi-finals. I might be wrong but I think it's £20k for a win in this round and £40k if you get through the quarters, technically nothing for winning the semi final as runners up get £50 and winners £100k. Apologies if this is wildly off topic, but PV have a very, er ... eventful history, both on- and off-the-field. Perhaps my favourite nugget is how they came to play at Vale Park. Wasn't it Alec Stewart who, as England's cricket captain, managed to lose ten tosses in a row? He got so fed up with it, he ended up sending, I think, Graham Thorpe out to do it, instead! You might be thinking of this guy? "Nasser Hussain lost the coin toss 14 consecutive times between Novembe...

You actually give us a bit more credit here than is warranted. Cheltenham Town were never really a leading non-league club. Not getting at you in this instance Jerry, but it's funny how players out of a team become super stars when a team loses but never get a mention if the team wins.
