The Robins Nest Forum Rules

Moderators / Admin are here to impose the rules

The following is a set of guidelines regarding the continued use of the Robins Nest Forum.

There is no need for users / members to constantly quote these "rules" to each other within threads causing them to go off topic. The rules are here for the moderators / administrator to impose not for you as individuals. If you have a serious complaint about someones post, then take it to Private Message (PM) with that person, or use the "report" link on a post.

Constant preaching of the rules on the website to other users may result in a user themselves being subject to a warning for "spamming" unnecessarily.

Abusive Comments

Members may not use The Robins Nest Forum to abuse any other member of the forum. If a member does abuse another member then they may be issued a warning. If a member repeats the offence, this may result in a permanent ban.

Threads/Posts must be civil and tasteful.

Threads/posts considered to be offensive to other members, or considered as bad taste may be edited/deleted by one of the forum moderators. This includes signatures.

Discrimination

Discrimination is not tolerated on this forum. Discrimination can take the form of the use of specific words or phrases or can be in the form of a general attitude towards an individual or group of people. For example, making a statement that all black people are criminals is discrimination on the basis of race, is illegal and is unacceptable. Discrimination can be on the basis of race, sex, disability, religion, sexual orientation or political persuation.

Non CTFC Supporters / Visitors from other Football Clubs

The Robins Nest Forum is not currently exclusive to Cheltenham Town Football Club supporters only. The Robins Nest Forum welcome supporters from any other Football Club and also members of the public that may not have an affiliation with one club or another. We expect all users, regardless of what club they support or not, to abide by the rules stated here. We will continue to monitor the situation with allowing non CTFC supporters on the forum and may decide, without reason, to make certain areas of the Robins Nest Forum exclusive to CTFC supporters only.

Banter and Baiting and Ignore

Banter is acceptable. Baiting someone constantly for a reaction is not. There is a fine line between the two at times and members are asked in the first instance to contact an individual via the Private Message (PM) system if they are offended or feel that they are being baited by that individual. A member can also consider using the "Ignore" function which will then mean you cannot see any of the other persons posts.
Please note that visiting supporters of other clubs may be victim to an excessive amount of banter because of the fact you are a visiting supporter. As with all users, if you feel this has "crossed the line" please use the "ignore" facility, take the issue up via PM with any individual concerned. The Robins Nest Forum also asks you to consider if you may have outstayed your welcome in the eyes of some members on the site and therefore you may want to consider a temporary leave of absence from the forum. Please remember that ultimately this is a Cheltenham Town Football Club forum and not your own teams website forum.

If anyone wants to know how the ignore facility works, please go to the FAQ link near the top of the page.

Spelling and Grammar

It is recognised that not everyone has received the same level of education as others and also there are certain medical conditions or reasons that means members Grammar / Spelling is not perfect all of the time. We do, however, ask all members to take the time to read through their posts before submitting them to the site to try to minimise spelling and grammatical errors as much as possible - and also to make sure the post makes a little bit of sense before posting it.

Users should at all times respect other users and not continually point out spelling or grammatical errors publically on the forum. If you would like to spend the time educating an individual regarding the spelling / grammatical errors, then please take this to PM. If however you are then requested not to do so by an individual or they do not wish to receive your free educational service, you are expected to abide by their request / wishes not to interfere or correct them. Any publically posted spelling or grammatical corrections / comments may be deleted by a Moderator or Administrator of the forum without reason.

Promotion of other sites.

Members are not permitted to promote another site on The Nest, without the permission of Admin. If a member is found to promote/spam the site with another site then they will be warned/banned. All posts considered spam or unauthorised promoting will be removed.

Approval is given to members who have their own sporting blog sites (whether CTFC or not - please ensure you post in right area), members advising other members with links of articles/sites of an informative nature or regarding your topic/post (as long as its not advertising). Permission is also given to the local press regarding coverage of Cheltenham Town Football Club and also to officials from Cheltenham Town Football club themselves to help promote events, the club etc.

Age Range

The Nest is open to all ages, therefore posts need to be respectful and you need to consider the potential audience before posting. No images or URL of a pornographic nature are welcome and will be removed. Bad Language needs to be kept to a minimum. If a post is found to contain too much bad language or any inappropriate material/links, then moderators may edit/delete the post.

Text Talk / Short Replies

On The Nest you are not limited to a number of characters like in a text message or Social Media posting, so please do not use 'text talk' in your posts. Please refrain from just replying with one word answers, give your opinions / comments on something. If a member continues to use text talk, then they may be warned/banned.

Usernames

If a member is found to have multiple accounts, then these accounts may be removed or suspended.

Signatures/Avatars

Due to a potential security issue regarding code and links within signatures, they have been temporarily disabled until such time as Admin can address the situation.

Members will then be able to create their own signature. However signatures slow the loading of the site down, and therefore need to be kept to a minimum.

Signatures

* No images will be allowed within the signature, other than those authorised by Admin - eg CTFC 500 Club banner in Admins / Shevates signature.
* Less than 500 Characters of Text at default font size.

Avatars

No Flash coded Images
Animated Images Less than 512 KB
Images should be less than 108 px by 108 px

If anyone exceeds these settings then Admin / Moderators may edit your signature and issue a warning.

Warnings

Warnings may be issued if a member breaks these simple rules, or causes a disruption to the forum. Warnings may be issued for the following...

Text Talk
Constantly posting Short/Pointless Replies
Severe Off-Topic Posting or continual off topic posting after being warned within a thread.
Personal Insults
Excessive or Extreme use of Bad Language
Discrimination
Spamming

In serious cases, a warning may not be appropriate and the account may be suspended for a period of time or possibly instantly banned.

When a warning is given, this will remain on your username for a period of 30 days.

If during this time you are given another warning, then this may result in a suspension being imposed (from 24 hours up to 7 days). Moderators will then discuss if this suspension is extended to the end of the season. If after 7 days you are unable to log back in then your account will have been suspended until the end of the season. You will be welcome to rejoin next season, however if there is any repeated offences you may find your account is permanently banned without warning.

If you are able to return after 7 days and on your return you are then given another warning within 60 days of a temporary ban your account may be permanently banned.

If there is a serious breach to these rules and it is deemed necessary, you may get an immediate ban.

Warnings / Suspensions / Bans will always have been discussed amongst the moderators / administrator and where the majority are in agreement the relevant action will then be taken.

Complaints

As mentioned earlier, please try to take up any issues you have directly with the person / member involved initially through the PM system and NOT publically on the forum within a thread. If after trying to resolve the issue directly, a member has a complaint against another member/moderator/admin, or a post/thread, then contact a member of the admin / moderator team via e-mail or PM. Complaints made public on the forum will be removed. Failure to do so in the correct manner may result in you receiving a warning.

Private Messages

Admin wishes to make you aware that, as the owner of the website and database (where all items are saved to), Admin does have the ability to view all private messages if it is deemed necessary to do so in the investigations of a complaint. When a complaint is registered that may require Admin to check the Private Messages area then this search will be limited as much as possible to just the Private Messages in relation to the complaint only. You can however be assured that Admin will treat all information viewed with the utmost confidentiality.

Please note that Moderators DO NOT have this ability / facility at all and the only person that can, if needed to, view PMs is the Administrator/Owner of the website.

Suspensions

Moderators have the power to suspend your account for a maximum of 7 days without consulting Admin. During this 7 day suspension you may recieve an E-mail (To the Registered Address), regarding the reasoning behind this suspension, and the outcome of a discussion amongst mods/admin regarding whether we should allow you to return, and under what conditions.

Banned Members

If a banned member wishes to return to The Nest after being away for a long period of time, then they need to send an e-mail to admin@robinsnestforum.co.uk requesting permission to do so, otherwise as soon as that member has been noticed, the account will be suspended again.
The Nest will do its best to attempt to keep all messages on this forum respectful and within the forum rules, but it is impossible for us to review every message. All messages expressed by the poster are views of the author, and The Nest will not be held responsible for the content of any message.

The owners of The Nest reserve the right to edit, delete, move or close any thread for any reason whatsoever.

Administrators decision is final

The Administrator of The Robins Nest Forum has always been relatively lenient when it comes to imposing bans and will usually only use this as an absolute last resort where required and after consultation with moderators. However, once the decision has been made, the Administrators decision is final and is not open for any appeal process. Basically, if you do not like the way the site is run, then The Robins Nest Forum suggests you start your own website forum discussion board up and run it how you like.
