In the interview JP asked Yates why we do not play 4-4-2 well
Yates played 4-4-2 but it was more 4-2-2-2 with McG and Roofe advanced more as wingers
My understanding of 4-4-2 was that you had a LM ie Russell Milton and a RM
Yates usually plays 4 with 1 winger so not a true 4-4-1
We have not had a proper LM for at least 3 seasons and when McG plays we dont have a RM, hence the 3 musketeers
