Don't understand why the mgr couldn't follow on after the game to go on holiday.

A good compromise might have been for the Chairman to reimburse the Manager - but I must confess, if I was being paid to do a particular job, I would not be taking a holiday under these circumstances. Yes, I've twice cancelled family foreign holidays at the last minute due to project go-live slippages (neither was my fault!) - and I've been critical of, in particular, cricketers leaving tours to be at the birth of their children, for example.
