Or in the noddy league next season for the big gate receipts.
Do we want them in or out?...a obvious burden to our promotion back home to the football league 2016/2017.
Do we want Bristol Rovers out of the way?

I want them out of the way. If they stay down i'm sure they'll be right up there again next season especially with the crowds they get, whereas Grimsby i'm not so sure if they'll have the resources to challenge again.
Nobody thinks we will p!## this league but we will be one of the big boys and should challenging for promotion. By the way FGR had a bigger budget than Bristol Rovers and Barnet did not do them much good though. Regardless now is the time to be optimistic and get behind the club its vital we bounce straight back so let's avoid the doom mongering for now.

I only saw the second half and extra time but thought it was a great advert for Conference football. I agree that we should all be positive about next season but let's not kid ourselves, it will be no mean feat going straight back up. Much as a trip to Wembley is a pleasant day out I would rather have promotion in the bag without having to put up with that torment! Make no mistake, promotion from the Conference is a much greater task than staying in division two. The improvement on last season has to be immense.
I barely saw a meaningful shot on target Alf and a lot of long ball. I am under no illusions it will be tough and feel the title is a stretch too far but making the play offs is fairly realistic and absolutely vital because if we fail to bounce back we could be in real trouble.

A little off topic but Clarke at the end showed a lot of passion and this is ...well, just funny for a childish person like me!!

BBC stats seem to bear out your analysis Robin!
In fact, it looks a fairly dull game all round

Cheltenham vs FGR for the title, pushed by whichever of Gateshead, Grimsby and Tranmere are able to keep a squad together.Shade wrote:As much as it pains me to say it, I'm glad Rovers have gone up.,
How about an all-Gloucestershire fight for the title next season, with us pulling away in the final weeks? A boy can dream...
Eastleigh can f-off to whence they came with Histon and the like.

Rovers Fan in peace Ok?
The Conference is really split into two sections , those who are full time and those who are part time. The part timers are Ok but the standard is low and the fitness no so good and as the season progresses the full time fitness levels really pay off
There's not much between the full time teams -. beware Eastleigh are a lot better than you may think and have a wealthy backer the same as Forest Green. We lost 2-0 at home to beastleigh and were played off the park , we did not show up on the day.
The worst aspect is most games against the part timers have less than 50 away supporters so the atmosphere at your home games is a bit weird to say the least.
Wrexham will be a force next year as they will have the ex Gateshead manager in charge I believe and Gateshead played some very good football, also Halifax cannot be underated either. If GRimsby can keep the squad they have at present they'll be the ones to catch without a doubt.
The standard of referees is variable some are very good, others appalling - you'll see alot more tackles going in with no whistle and much less time wasting and feigning injury- this is especially true for the part timers - they take the knock get up and play on - some games the trainers never got on at all - this is one aspect I truely enjoyed of the league the players just wanted to play football.
I'm afraid its going to be a long season for you and the only advice I can give is support your team and forget about the league you are in. The crowd do make that final difference especially at away grounds as we found to our benefit
I was hoping you would survive but hartlepool pulled off the great escape - Buckle did for you what he did for us and that was to rip the team spirit apart. Its history for both of our teams but still painful none the less.
I wish you well in your quest to return to the football league. Go for the win at each game as Barnet won promotion despite losing 10 of their games but drew very few.

Thanks, apart from Kiddy I cannot see a single side bringing more than 500 away fans here next season but I take consolidation that our crowd and budget should be one of the bigger ones and hopefully with GJ in charge we can bounce straight back as you did. I also quite fancy Grimsby to win the league so our best option is most likely the play offs which are a lottery, it's going to be a rough ride but so long as we bounce straight back I am confident we will be stronger for it.
