Will new coach, Wade Elliot change things, will he put his personal mark on how the team sets up, tactically.

Great that we all have different views on this. Personally I think it is a missed opportunity. Wade already has one hand on the tiller, which is good news. Rather than go with the 'safe' option, we have missed the chance to add someone progressive to the team, to add impetous to the new season.
How are you so sure that Wade isn't progressive?Ihearye wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 08:50 How are you so sure that Wade isn't progressive?
You seem to have decided that because he was part of Duff's backroom that he will bring nothing different to the team? You have no idea how much influence he had before, or how being the main guy might change him.
You've made your mind up that of all the applicants, regardless of who might have blown the board away, Wade is the safe option, but there is literally no evidence to support that. He's also apparently the cheap option but, again, you don't know his initial wage and future wage if he is named head coach.
Now you might well be right in your assertions, but if you are, why didn't they just promote him the day Duff went and not go through this whole charade of making sure they pick the right man? The players are back in pre-season training now, and if he had been appointed on day 1 it would have made a lot more sense.

Yes indeed I have made my mind up, that is what is called having an opinion. There is no evidence to point to Wade being a yes man under MD, to the contrary, MD often mentioned his influence. And it is on that I am happy to have Wade still here advising and a new face brought in.
Neither you nor I know the amount of people on the 'shortlist'. Again my opinion, which you are more that entitled to rubbish. Is that in my experience of recruitment and selection for senior posts. To have this all organised, interviews slotted in, due process, and an offer out within just over a week. Is no mean feat. That is why my opinion is that Wade was always the front runner for reasons best known to the board. Just all seems to have all been done with great speed.
But you may well be right and I am totally wrong

Ah I see. Never heard of him. Six years before my time and looks a bit too ITV for my childhood household so would have missed any repeats.asl wrote: ↑24 Jun 2022, 12:05Froggatt.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote:Sorry, no idea what the Selwyn or Joanne references are about or from!

There's one chap on here that does not know the meaning of a clapped out Marchant's bus... they took us from Benhall to Great Norward Street (St James') in the late 1960s... I'll say well done Marchants for getting to whare they are now... By the the way my late brother had his foot run over by an MB before that... from Benhall to the Grammar School...! No compensation sought. We were tougher in those days!
The old days!
