Cheltenham Town v Colchester United

Keep Pett there

Not great that Bradders is off and Adedokun on already.
Some lovely chap from Essex near the TV camera swearing his head off shouting at the "line" and ref over and over. "How's that a f#!$ foul, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref...line, FFS, how's that a f#!$ foul.... Ref, ref, ref, ref, ref, ref..." He went quiet for a minute when it turned out Bradders was actually injured and had to go off. The gobby twat didn't shut up for long though.

Where’s the camera - centre of the CF stand? If so, there aren’t any fans near there.

Poor from us first half though. Not much constructive football, AJB being given the runaround and Colchester having all the better chances.

Shocking defending; reminded me of the series "slow horses!' Colchester have some decent players; yet to see the same skill from CTFC.Why do we hoof the ball upfield to a diminutive CF?
It's the Noddy cup. Away fans down in blocks 7 and 8 and PRE closed...same as it always is.art vandalay wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 19:52 Where’s the camera - centre of the CF stand? If so, there aren’t any fans near there.
You'd think the lads hadn't played for 2 months, not 2 weeks. Don't think anyone is playing well, really. A few are doing the basics ok but that's it. Thomas and Archer producing nothing, front two getting no ball, but Miller had a good header saved from the one decent Arkell cross.

With 5 mins left we’re not quite hanging on, but I’d be relieved to make it to pens.
Yep absolutely - just surprised given some of the soft fouls he was giving all game
Wow that was undeserved although the losing Bradbury and Pett didn't help things.
Hay looked promising early on but was pretty anonymous.
Hope the Johnsons have an attacking mid in the works as Pett isn't going to cut it as more than a make shift, fantastic finish though.

Just hope Darragh Power the new RB fits straight in, he did well to get that tackle in with his first touch.
AJB isn’t a good enough defender to play there, but ok as a RWB.
£110k in prize money for us so far, and Birmingham and Peterborough also through in the southern section draw. Orient v Stevenage is next week.
Q/F draw is this Saturday.

Stevenage marginally preferable to Orient. And the chance to avenge their party-pooping on the final day last year would be nice.
A big “No thanks” to Brum and Peterborough.

This is why we’re all hopelessly addicted to this game and this club. You never know what’s round the corner.Jerry St Clair wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 20:45 With 5 mins left we’re not quite hanging on, but I’d be relieved to make it to pens.

Can’t fault the lads for effort but it was a very scrappy game and we simply never got anything going. Well done their keeper.

Q/F is the first 'open' draw - i.e. not regionalised.Fuller wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 21:24 Just hope Darragh Power the new RB fits straight in, he did well to get that tackle in with his first touch.

We beat Salford on the way to the Plymouth semi final.
Odds on Birmingham and Wrexham being kept apart...?

Unless the referee influenced things through a shocking decision which impacted the result then everything in football is deserved. We scored more than them fair and square so we deserved it.
Well, yes technically but the amount of conceding possession, how their left winger terrifed us on that side of the pitch along with the 2 howlers from their keeper we were fortunate.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 23:10Unless the referee influenced things through a shocking decision which impacted the result then everything in football is deserved. According to skysports they have our passing success at 55.9% 5 shots and 3 on target, tiki taka it was not.

Fair points. Depends on your outlook on the sport I guess. I have always thought possession to be a misused and meaningless stat in itself, and would argue that teams who regularly win with less possession (e.g. Forest) play more effective football than teams who hog possession and do little with it.HamTown wrote: ↑15 Jan 2025, 07:53Well, yes technically but the amount of conceding possession, how their left winger terrifed us on that side of the pitch along with the 2 howlers from their keeper we were fortunate.RegencyCheltenhamSpa wrote: ↑14 Jan 2025, 23:10Unless the referee influenced things through a shocking decision which impacted the result then everything in football is deserved. I personally adhere to this paraphrasing of Mourinho’s approach: Most chances conceded are from mistakes; most mistakes happen when a team has the ball; therefore the team who has the most possession concedes the most chances.
