Cheltenham Town v Leicester City
Moderators: Admin, Ralph, asl, Robin
Leicester fans have been shocking btw. Buxton were 100x better. Maybe they need some branded clappers to help them make some noise.
I guess that's the difference from a big day out compared to a club that was in Europe not long ago.

I read one pre match comment made after Hutchinson went back to BR that it would be Cheltenham nil Leicester ? Certainly not wrong there. However the players can be proud of their effort today. Pity that the only quality came from Thomas in the end which is what most Robins supporters expected.

Leicester did a professional job on us today - we needed them to not turn up like Palace today.
The first goal was quality but the second was preventable - it was a big mistake and weak tackle to let Mavididi slip down the wing. The timing was awful and ultimately we didn’t have enough quality to hurt them.
Everybody worked hard but you need some magic, some luck and the opposition to not turn up to get anything out of these games.

Yes, despite the stadium almost bursting at the seams we didn’t really create enough atmosphere to lift the players. They needed a lift after losing Adelekan, Archer and Hutchinson this week, but only Block 1 were consistently trying to raise the atmosphere. Definitely the case that irregular attendees do nothing to lift the crowd, or in turn, the players.
First half, I felt we deserved to go in on equal terms, but second half, LCFC had us boxed in for much of that half. I’d have been happy with a 1-2 defeat on balance, but 0-2 makes us look like we lacked any punch.
We definitely need a big, strong & mobile striker with a proven goalscoring record at this level. Jake will run through brick walls all game, but against those two big Leicester centre halves he didn’t stand a chance. We got some good crosses into their box today, but no one could capitalise.
I hope the gentleman just to the right-hand side behind the goal in the PRE who was unwell, is ok. The fans did well to clear a very cramped space to get the medics to him and get him out pitch-side. The fans in front of us all clapped in support of an unwell fan as he walked with the medics, which was a nice gesture.

We worked hard and kept our shape, and it took two well taken goals to win the game. But there‘s no getting away from our total reliance on JT to create something, and he nearly got one today, while crosses into the box are easily defended unless we‘ve got players up for a set piece.
Both the game and atmosphere today were very flat and lacklustre. We were organised and Joe Day didn't have many saves to make but Leicester were in control all game and you always felt like they could step up if needed. Sadly for us other than Jordan Thomas we had nobody who looked like they could create anything.
Weird game today, such a flat performance the second half felt like a pre-season friendly rather than a 3rd round cup tie. Thomas the only bright spark. Tomkinson not a right back, every pass he made went backwards. I’ve been calling for Martin to get a start but he was very weak and lacking in energy.
Special thanks to the Fan Hub volunteers in the Colin Farmer who kept topping up the supply of programmes before kick off, after the club decided not to sell any on our side of the ground..

Enjoyed the occasion today.
I think we showed them too much respect personally.
Lacked a little belief.
Both their wingers were class.
They moved the ball quicker with more purpose...which asbto be expected.
2 nil is a respectable score.
Can't help think the players may have a touch of regret.
Shame we have list hutch n hak but onward and upward

One of the things that stood out for me today was all the Leicester players had a very good first touch/control,there was very few bad touches where our players could nip in and rake the ball.
Felt like Leicester could have stepped it up a notch if needs be.
No complaints from me,seen criticism of lack of fight and creating chances, we were finding it pretty difficult to create to much when we had hutchinson, adelakun and archer......not sure what some expected with them gone and playing a side two divisions higher.

Very boring today. Hopefully next season we return to normality and lose to a non league side as usual.

Even if you play for a team that gets knocked-out?
