The new BBC drama SS GB (when does it go on TV)?

looks interesting..

Just finished watching the US version called "The man in the high castle" over here on Amazon Prime. Well worth it if you can see it in UK.
America was split in 3. Nazi's controlling all the east and some central, The Japs controlling the West coast and a neutral zone between them

Not seen the series but it got rave reviews over here, too. Odd, because the book was no more than 'okay' to my mind.

We see the Nazis (note no apostrophe) controlling the US on our TV News channels most days.

The Man In The High Castle is a very good show, helped by the excellent acting. I hadn't heard about SS GB so will keep an eye out. I hope it would be more of a companion show than a remake (like, meanwhile, in GB...) or a rip off.

Following some investigation, I see SS-GB is a 1978 novel, set in 1941, so not actually linked to The Man In The High Castle, which was written and is set in 1962. Seems the British one may be a slight rip-off in terms of idea.

Started on Sunday, anyone watch? I caught up last night and it was a tad BBC for me. And by that I mean boring.

I watched it. Enjoyed it. The book is a spy thriller, so like all good spy thrillers it takes time to build the narrative and tension.

I think it is safe to say that despite being different genres, Deighton was inspired by PKD's sci-book as you suggest Shade. Though PKD himself acknowledges he was inspired by Bring the Jubilee (Moore, 1953).
