Sounds like their fans objected to relegation... Match abandoned after 103 minutes due to crowd trouble, losing 1-2. (In fairness, I don't know for sure it was the Oldham fans - I'm jumping to a conclusion.)

It was a fair bet, tbh...

Surely a 0-3 forfeit and relegation.

Enjoy Gateshead next season Oldham.

The game was completed behind closed doors and Oldham lost 2-1.

I remember when we got relegated at Oldham and loads from the home end invaded the pitch and ran to get at the away fans before the stewards and police could stop them.

Luckily the stewards and police did manage to form a barrier in time so the Oldham chavs had to make do with goading and giving it the “come on then” from behind the security lines.

So forgive me if I have to say hahahahaha enjoy relegation you non-league b*st*rds.

I don't recall us ever being relegated at Oldham?

Ah yes you are right. After checking the detail, it was the week before the Doncaster game when we stayed up on the last day. At the time at Oldham, after losing 2-1, we thought we were going to go down so it felt like a relegation.

Amazing how things end up. I remember the joy of taking their 'big scalp', during out cup run which ended at WBA. What an unpredictable sport

Was it Sheridan, their current manager, who got sent off in that game?

20 years later, and another rendition of “cheerio” sung in his direction!
