Had to double take at that!

Obviously good luck and all but potentially Premiership?

Edit: ah he hasn't actually signed just yet, could be dependant on if they go up or not

Bizarre. Even if Huddersfield don't go up this season, which I personally hope they don't, he's not good enough for a team chasing promotion to the PL. Barely good enough this last season for a team chasing promotion out of League 1.

Huddersfield were one of the favourites to go down this season so their current position is probably a little misleading in terms of ambitions

Bizarre. Although, it our biggest liability last season and slowest and least mobile player is wanted by the team who came third in the Championship, maybe we could compete at that level after all.

Good luck to him if it all works out. Personally, my heart sank every time the ball was played to him along the back line

Maybe so but their current position is their current position, and they are not looking to reinforce it - or stay in the PL if they were to get there - by signing Will Boyle, if they do so. They've got an ambitious manager whom was Bielsa's no.2 at Leeds. I just really don't understand this. I reckon it's an agent wind up to try and get interest from Championship clubs.

Anyone who can crouch like that getting on for 90 minutes is deserved of some respect...my knees and calf muscles used to ache just watching him.

Did what Steve Evans and Hockaday, or whatever his name at FGR was, couldn't do and got Leeds to the PL

But that's irrelevant in this discussion, I was merely pointing out that he was no.2 at a PL club but went out to manage Huddersfield and is therefore ambitious and has done a very good job. Signing Will Boyle for Huddersfield is not ambitious.

Because Pep loves him and the media fight each other like dogs to lap up anything Pep squirts their way.

Pep was right about this though, he would have taken Leeds (and most bottom half Prem clubs) down: https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leed ... 665254.amp

Huddersfield, pushing for the PL, or Stockport, just back into League 2...this gets more bizarre. And why would he leave us just to drop back to League 2 and basically start again? Have Stockport got a ton of money?

Loads of money Shade. They have have been paying big bucks for a couple of seasons now. Always had good size support as well. If Will goes there he will get good money for sure and probably another promotion on his CV. Good luck to him.

Huddersfield no longer interested in Boyle, apparently (from a northern rag.)

Maybe they think he will have a good reason to join Barnsley.

Only recent source I can find suggests the opposite! Caveat that it’s a rumour/gossip site:

Can't find it now...it was in a Yorkshire-leaning local paper and it was in the aftermath of the playoff final. From memory, it said: "Huddersfield have reportedly cooled their interest in Will Boyle as they feel the need to strengthen other areas, according to Lancs news" - which is why I noticed it because I thought it was odd that it would have been in a Lancs paper. I wonder if it should have been PNE, as they were also interested, I think?

But I agree: there's plenty of hits on stories in the last two days suggesting they most definitely are still interested.

The step up some players have can really shock people, supporters seeing nothing in a player but scouts can, and then passed on to a manager to observe. I think we had a prime example at our club. Loanee Joe Rodon from Swansea, to me he wasnt good enough for Merthyr Tydfil. 15million transfer fee later and hes in the Spurs squad. I go to watch the Wales team and when hes played hes looked excellent. Strange game

interested to see how well he does in the 'top end' champ, I should imagine you get a little more time on the ball which should help him out a bit.

I'm also interested to see... Genuinely hope it goes well for him and maybe having better players around him will help him but I'd be amazed if he holds a place down.

Usual ill-informed comments on that twitter thread. You've got to laugh.

Good servant. I wish him all the best.

I’ll miss him barking illegible orders at teammates.
