It was never said there would be an announcement today, just that they were to decide between two today.

Was it John Ward used to say "we will go with what we got."

Wade Elliott in Starbucks.

Bloxham on holiday.

News early next week.

Q&A questions to JP by Monday.

Think that covers it.

In fairness, he damn nearly pulled off a miracle there, last season. In addition, he deserves a certain amount of respect for taking on a Championship job in order to cut his teeth when others (like Lampard) feel they're entitled enough to start their managerial career at a top club in the Prem, fail dismally, and get another job in the same division (and was sooooo close to taking them down...)

Lampard started at Derby as well, got them to play off final.

Lampard spent a lot of money which the club could ill afford but then he did take Derby from 6th when he took over to 6th when he left.

Bang average really; wasn't a disgrace, but probably didn't really do enough to merit taking over at Chelsea (a 'legend' going to a club because they 'get the club' is often a doomed/dim move; ask any Man Utd fan).

Rooney, in comparison, took over the same club in a VERY different state. He had the chance to jump ship in January at a point when few would have blamed him for doing so, but instead he declined to be interviewed by the club he supports/loves because he felt he still had unfinished work at Derby; the job, of course, then went to Lampard!

He stuck by Derby in hugely difficult circumstances earning the respect of players and fans alike.

Lampard hasn't done anything like that yet.

A cynic might think Rooney had nothing to lose. He can afford to never work again, but it doesn't half look good that England and Man Utd's record goalscorer stood by poor old Derby in their hour of need.

It begs the question, why walk now when he could have walked at any time before?

..............he explained very eloquently why in his leaving statement, where his genuine care for the club seemed quite apparent. Anyway, it's all just speculation & gossip innit?

Cynic.

Could John Eustace be our man?
Mark Warburton tonight announced as West Ham assistant manager. I think it was muted he might get a manager role elsewhere with Eustace as his number 2 rekindling the old QPR set up which isn’t the case now?

Isn't Eustace being touted for Birmingham should their takeover go through?

He is also Republic of Ireland Assistant Manager. Would he leave that for us? We wouldn’t want out Head Coach to have another distraction.

JP tweets at 8:31pm:

“There is now one outstanding candidate for the Cheltenham Town head coach role, finer details to be ironed out over weekend and still expect announcement on Monday.”

What a contrast this is to the public shenanigans of Barnsley, we're down the final one and we still don't know for sure any of the applicants!

Nesty, you'll be glad to know that whoever is doing the CTFC Facebook page has just posted a pic of Devils Chimney with white smoke coming out of it.
