Nesty - is there something wrong with the site? I just tried to look at a couple of the results and the pages aren't loading.

I get this when I click on a season:

This site can’t be reached

ctfcnesty.byethost24.com took too long to respond.

Good work Nesty!
Lots of great memories for me going back to the late 1960's, first big match I saw at Whaddon Rd was the Watford FA Cup tie in 1968 :)
Mind you there are plenty of bad memories too

I was there at the game. I think this was the game where Dave Meeson the keeper had to change his socks and shorts. They were the same colour as his yellow jersey. The FA Cup rules at the time were that the goalkeeper had to wear the same colour shorts and socks as his team mates and the ref insisted that he changed them.

Conceded a very early penalty after our centre half handled the ball trying to do a diving header. It was downhill from then on.

I remember the kick off being delayed and Meeson going back to the changing room, but I thought he had to change his shirt?
Was it Alan Jeffries who gave the penalty away? He also conceded a penalty at the Wycombe FA Cup tie in 1974 I recall.
Stuart Scullion was the star Watford player that day I recall. It was the first time I’d seen the Robins take a pasting and was quite upset after the game. Phew….55 years ago, good job our memories are still good!

I am sure it was for a shorts and socks change. I think it was Alan Jeffries who gave away the penalty.

I have been asked when we first went fully full time, I assumed it was when Steve C arrived is this correct?

I'm pretty sure we didn't go fully full-time until the season after we won the conference.

As asl says, it was 1999 we went full-time, after promotion. Players were offered full-time deals and some wanted part-time, but SC wanted only full-time players which is why Jason Eaton was allowed to go to Yeovil.

On a different website I was musing over the current adoption of the term "non-league".

I found this....

To justify the Cheltenham content just dip into the 'Archive'.

A little project during this summer was to pull together a dataset of Cheltenham Town games. So, here it is for those interested.

https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.16052652

It includes every first team game since 1989/90 to the end of the 2024/25 season with match day squads (each player with their own ID - aka the Scott Browns' problem), minutes played, goalscorers, yellow (since 1999) and red cards too.

There's a couple of gaps (the Echo archive missing August/September 1992) being one. A few others are noted too, like when the Echo would forget to include a player, substitute, or substitution event in its match report. There will be a few mistakes in there too, though I have tried to catch them, there's bound to be a few errors. Happy to be corrected.

Why August 1989? Because that's when the Echo started including line-ups in its match reports. I'd love to go back further, but can't see how at the moment. So, if anyone has season stats from old programmes i'd be grateful to have a look. Ideally a scan, but even a photograph would suffice.

It's been fun to do this, going back and meeting all those players again, reliving classic games and wondering why the Midland Floodlit Cup just seemed to peter out mid season. A reminder of what a great journey this club has been on and why we stick with it.

I'm open to collaborating with anyone else working on CTFC history projects, because I don't think we do enough as a club or fan base to celebrate our history (is it grand and storied? No. But it is ours).

Anyway, the plan next summer is to revise this, but also work on a player data set. From Adams to Zebroski.

Nesty I can get all the info on here apart from the results.
https://ctfchistory.weebly.com/
The stairlift link above just gives blank pages or a 404 message.
Any idea how I can see the results please?
