Loved the ‘snake’ comment snuck in when Winchester was mentioned.

A total aside, but I've just realised that the intro music is very similar to the classic Papa's Got A Brand New Pigbag by Pigbag. Is that a deliberate nod to its Cheltenham origins?

I don't think so - I think Tom just found it and went with it purely off the cuff.

“and I expect Jovan Malcolm will score more goals against Aldershot in the future” is surely an early contender for RR quote of the year?

Made me spit my tea out, did that.

No mention of David Bird in the midfield discussion.

289 appearances, which is the CTFC Football League record according to Wikipedia.

One of the players instrumental in securing the historic two survivals/three seasons in L1.

In the second season he scored four goals, which ultimately secured us six crucial points.

One of those goals coming at Elland Road of course in what must go down as Birdy’s career highlight and one of the all time CTFC moments.

Funnily enough, he came up in the chat afterwards. One of those who is always criminally overlooked.

Rarely spectacular, hardly ever MotM - just solid, reliable and always did his job. I liked Birdy, enormously.

Birdy, similar to Tom Pett, not noticed but very effective.

Was intrigued by Halliwell’s comment about “Plymouth fans smashing up the Cat and Fiddle” so looked it up. An organised hooligan firm of around 40 travelled to Cheltenham looking for trouble, but didn’t actually attend the game.

I know these “meets” happen between other sets of hooligans, but why on Earth did Plymouth go to that effort visiting one of the most peaceful, benign fanbases in the country?

Halliwell absolutely on fire with his goal choices; who put the goal in the Turnip net?

Spine tingling narration of that moment in the fog. I remember everything about the train down, driving in the fog on the farm roads, getting McDonald’s on the way to the game as nothing else was open. Heading down to the Bristol office the next day with throat still raw.

One thing which struck me when the guys were talking about Pett’s numbers is the fact than in football the ‘assist to the assist’ is not a statistic which is measured. I believe ice hockey measures this as they always announce two assisters when I watch games.

The reason I thought of this is because players like Pett will often be the ones playing that magic slide rule pass down the inside channel, setting up a team mate to easily cross to someone to tap in.

In that situation, the player making the easy cross gets the assist, but is really Pett’s through ball which makes the goal.

Can you give an example of that for Pett?

Not off the top of my head as it was just a hypothetical. Just in general I think players like Pett will always have more impact than the numbers of assists suggests, because they assist the assist more than they assist the shot.

It would be the same for Sercombe as well I think. How many times did we see him slide in Hussey, Blair or Jackson over recent years - some of their square balls will have resulted in goals.

Please assit me... Do we really need to know who assists the assist before the assist?

If the assist before the assist is the major part of the assist, then I'd like to know who the assisting assister, aka the assister to the assister, is.

I'm assuming this about Lloyd's work in the build up to Sercs' goal last Saturday?

Pett has had the biggest impact of any player new or old in my opinion.

Organising...helping defence ....allowing sercs to push on.

Always calm on ball.

How did he not have a club?

The board need to import a boat load of peanuts!

Fair play to you lads for producing the podcast every week.
I’ve had numerous conversations with Robins fans since Saturday and most agree with the sentiments of those who’ve contributed.
After the best part of two hours of conversation on the podcast I don’t feel any better…..
