I agree - it's all laughable and much more immedaite and painful the lower you go...

Here's a moment in Ilkeston's history:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilkeston_Town_F.C._(1945)

I'm trying to think back and am unsure if they have had one or maybe even two re-incarnations since. A previous director possibly milking trainee money (maybe government funded?)... Che Adams anyone. (Also from that same era Ash Hunter too? Briefly Sam Pringle... Dan Udoh? - Probably disjointed memories).

I'll have to sign-up to the underlying thougt though... bad and/or mercenary (but often short-term over investing) owners have not helped.

Il'son currently in the NPL with Macclesfield & FC United.

So... needless to say, I was somewhat unsurprised that Radio Robbie Savage has continued to show his favour, on air, to give your manager a chance. Seemingly though, a recent in his head scenario that collapsed over his love of Steve Bruce (and kin)!

Still VERY Pleased to be CTFC.

Though as we have seen with everton, it's worth the risk to cheat.

No. Because players have been paid 100% of wages, while club staff have been paid 50%. So, no points sanction because it only applies to non-payment of playing staff.

As such, low paid office staff only have half their monthly salary at the beginning of the most expensive month of the year. It absolutely stinks.

EDIT: Some staff have been paid 50%. Others have been paid less. If your mortgage or rental payment goes out tomorrow this is absolutely horrendous situation to be put in.

Surely the players should help out the lower paid staff, sacrifying some of their ludicrously high salaries.

Unless this was agreed to, this is f***ing criminal. How do some folk sleep in their beds at night.

Soap opera stuff coming out of Morecambe today.
  • The entire Board have released a statement condemning the owner.
  • They've asked potential buyers to contact them directly.
  • Unless the club is sold, they consider their position will be "untenable" (i.e. they'll resign).
Awful stuff. A very similar club to us in lots of ways. A warning that it can all go wrong very quickly.

Are they still owned by the people that effectively liquidated Worcester Warriors Rugby Club?

I presume the board all agreed on the current owner to take over in the first place?

Morecambe charged by the EFL today: one charge for the club, two for the owner. The charge relates to failure to deposit 125% of monthly turnover in a neutral account for payment of wages.

A probable points deduction incoming it, more worryingly, the club now seem to be starved of cash flow to pay the bills.

EFL just released a statement that they will not be disqualifying Reading's owner Mr Dai from all football activity as they felt a disqualification would not achieve the immediate objective of sourcing available funds for the deposit account. So he will be find £20k (and a further£50k suspended unless the deposit is made in full 12/01)

its a total farce now (always has been).

It is a step in the right direction by the EFL though, in that they are sanctioning the individual as al alternative to punishing the club via points deductions. Will be interesting to see how Dai responds. The commission aren’t persuaded that’s he’s broke - they think he’s chosen this path.

Reading are cutting costs and have made five people redundant at the club. The first team will no longer have overnight stays before away games (will be interesting to see how that turns out when they have a 7 hour coach journey before their game at Carlisle) and they won't be signing any new players in January.

C&G end needs to make banners:

“Pay your bills, Reading”

“Christmas sackings; shame on you”

I'd be surprised if they get anything more than a fine. But when they don't pay the fine...

Sounds like an admin cock-up. Selles sat in the stands for their home game against Wigan, but it seems the FA disciplinary process hadn't concluded by then so the touchline ban hadn't actually been invoked.

In other Reading news, they've made their assistant manager, Andrew Sparkes, and Player Development Direct, Eddie Niedzwiecki, redundant as part of cost cutting exercise.

Anyone know a club in need of an assistant manager.......?

I noticed Selles was booked straight after the final whistle at WR.

Good spot. You'd have thought he'd want to grab the three points and get out there as quickly as possible after they got away with that one.

Hey, don't go giving them more than the point that they were lucky enough to get.

Strong rumours that Reading are close to going down the plughole. Catering staff at the training ground have left and players are eating microwave meals. Office staff are sat in coats because the heating has been switched off. And the club are planning a January firesale of players to help pay the bills. All according to The Athletic.

Lewis Wing, Sam Smith, Harvey Knibbs, Tom Holmes, Nelson Abbey and others all expected to be made available for up front payments.

Relegation is now looking the least bad outcome this season because it would at least mean the club hasn't folded. Hard to see how they wouldn't be absolutely nailed on for finishing bottom if their remaining half decent players leave.
