Thomas Tuchel

Talk about other football teams at all levels. AND ANY Glos City related threads, even if talking about the groundsharing.

England manager. Not sure how I feel about that, tbh... Hardly covered himself in glory at Chelsea or Bayern.

The key skill that Southgate lacked was the tactical nous against the best teams. If Tuchel has that, then it is a good appointment. I am not sure how he will get on with the old fogies at the FA though.

A proper manager that will give England their best chance of winning something. He's won trophies everywhere he's been and will know the players he'll be working with. What's not to like?

Obviously, it would be nice if this country could produce our own coaches...

I suppose we don't produce much ourselves any more thanks to two or three Prime Ministers.

Seems a shame that England isn't in the position to have an English manager but seems as though the FA maybe getting a bit tired of not getting over the final hurdle, looks like a short term throw of the dice to win 'something'

The FA wanted a trophy winner. The last English manager to win a trophy was 'arry Rednapp back in 2008...

If we fail to win the World Cup, it will be an abject failure of an appointment which is a high bar to set.

Won the Champions League in his debut season with Chelsea. If he does the equivalent for England with the World Cup then fantastic.

The only risk is that he falls into the same trap he did at Bayern, where Kane’s flat track bullying (e.g 8-1 vs Mainz) but failure in the big games and crucial moments ended up costing Bayern the league title, as it has with England in the last three tournaments.

Let's be honest, it doesn't matter who we have in charge or which players we have on the pitch, we will always bottle it/have some unfathomable ref decisions given against us in the QF, Semis or Final against a France, Spain or, probably now we have a German manager, Germany. Etc. "This is the best chance England have ever had since 1966," followed by a huge let down.
