Currently rock bottom of league 1 with four points and lost their last six. Would we of faired much better had we stayed up and kept the same team?

(and yes its a hypothetical question I'm aware multiple factors would have a bearing)

We’d have struggled I’d we’d stayed up. Burton signed as many new players as we did in the summer, they looked good signings on paper for them but smaller clubs like us and Burton are always up against it.

Definitely looks tougher this year. Just look at how much Birmingham have spent  https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/birming ... verein/337

Being able to/allowed to spend around €36m in League One is ridiculous. I know a lot oppose it, but there really should be a spending cap, no matter the size of the club.

If Clarke had stayed then I don't think we'd be in the mess we are currently but very likely we would have been in another relegation scrap. Issues at Burton are much deeper though they went for a completely different style of football and a young squad, how often does that work when trying to avoid relegation?

Clarke wouldn’t have stayed even if we’d not been relegated.
I’m not sure we are currently in a mess. We probably were after the Swindon match though.
Burton are under relatively new overseas ownership, as are Carlisle. So if we do get new owners, or additional investment, there’s no guarantee it will bring improved results on the pitch for us in the short term. These things take time, especially when 90% of the squad weren’t at the club last season, just like Burton.

Agreed, DC was only ever here for the short term and would have gone even if we had stayed up. Also, I've just looked down that Brum transfer list and see they spent nearly a million quid on some 31yo striker who.....no, sorry, stoppit now....

We were his route back into management. A no-lose situation for him (absolutely no blame pinned on him for relegation remember) - he was never staying past the end of the season.

indeed, nothing more than expected from a scummy club like bham and when it all goes 7i7s up again (and it will), we'll have the whining and the moaning from the fans (again), they're another club that needs to just disappear.

Be hilarious if they bottled it though. Hilarious with a capital H.
