I’m not an expert when it comes to these kind of things. It does feel a positive move for the club and other supporters are greatly upbeat.
The EFL will need to improve it. According to Grok the EFL will need to do a ‘fit and proper’ test. I was told by someone on X that the process should be smooth and no expected issues due to his good record in the football business.

Excellent news. My initial reaction is this feels a very 'safe' person to takeover given his wealth and experience in football. Obviously still to be concluded and we don't know how long that takes but given his involvement in other clubs hopefully that's relatively quick. We never hear from our current owners so would be great to hear from Mike once it's all done and dusted on how he plans to take us forward and his plans for that new main stand we desperately crave.

We have significant shareholders, not owners. Now there is news a statement has been issued.Thats good enough for me. The prospective owner looks to be a good choice and credit is due to all at CTFC who have worked on this.Robin wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 11:32 Excellent news. When he took over at Antequera last year, he put in place a General Manager to run the club but kept most of the board on. So we can expect similar here. The key theme seems to be sustainable growth which is what I suspect most of us want. Notably he says evolution not revolution which goes back to my 'safe' comment above.

Just reading about his time in Spain (which is roughly a year) they didn't spend anything on transfer fees but he did increase the playing budget, he also invested in the training facilities spending around £500,000 of his own money. That maybe what we can expect this year, focus on the training ground and some additional wages but no big transfer fees.
Some of his achievements whilst chairman of Burnley:-
Negotiated the re-purchase of Turf Moor and Gawthorpe Training Ground from a third-party landlord.
Oversaw the investment of £20million in new training ground and disabled stand facilities.
Kept the club in the Premier League for six seasons.
Oversaw the club becoming the fourth most profitable in Premier League history.

Yes, sounds really good.
Just for interest, I asked Grok:
“Did Mike Garlick and Michael Duff overlap at Burnley FC?”
Answer:
“Yes, Mike Garlick and Michael Duff overlapped at Burnley FC. Mike Garlick joined the Burnley board in 2006 and became chairman in 2012, serving until 2020 when he stepped down after the ALK Capital takeover, though he remained a director until 2023. Michael Duff played for Burnley from 2004 to 2016 and later coached at the club’s academy from 2016 to 2018, including roles with the under-18 and under-23 squads, and worked with the first team during their 2018 UEFA Europa League campaign. Their time at the club overlapped from 2006 to 2016, when Duff was a player, and briefly in 2016-2018 when Duff was a coach, with Garlick as chairman during much of that period.“
Maybe not just a coincidence? If so (and so long as Grok is not hallucinating - I haven’t checked) perhaps we need to be grateful to Duffo for “putting a good word in”??
That figure seems old, the latest I can find is £93million net worth from earlier this year. Well off but not excessively rich to the extent he can just give it away. Will be interested to understand how he plans to fund the new stand, I'm sure there is a plan for it as it was a key part of the takeover.
I saw comments about Duff on twitter, load of nonsense IMO. Hasn't even loaned us a youth player since hes left so I doubt hes going to be circling the club to prospective buyers.Leckyfan wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 13:25Yes, sounds really good.

But absolute chicken feed compared to Simon Keswick.bigdavejambo wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 15:29£93m more than Bloxham hasRobin wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 13:25That figure seems old, the latest I can find is £93million net worth from earlier this year. However his experience in organically growing Burnley whilst keeping them profitable is to be very welcomed. On paper, just what we need to be competitive in League 2 and grow to be competitive in League 1
Bloxham who isn't a majority owner of the club.bigdavejambo wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 15:29£93m more than Bloxham hasRobin wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 13:25That figure seems old, the latest I can find is £93million net worth from earlier this year. Credit to the board, and credit to Simon Keswick for divesting his shares to current board members and of course Charles Jennings.
DB interview today.
Predictably played an understandable straight bat.

Fingers crossed this gets over the line.
JP saying that he hopes to fund us in the window all being well.
Anyone hoping for anything else might have to be patient I reckon.
I'm not sure we could have wished for anyone better tbh.

I'm curious why the statement says "principal shareholders" and not "persons with significant control" (PSCs). "Significant control" according to Companies House is a 25 or more per cent shareholding, which is Charles Jennings (CTFC Investments), joined in this case by David Bloxham and Paul Godfrey as inheritors of Simon Keswick's shareholding - though the division of shares between them means they do not qualify as PSCs. The only other shareholder with what the EFL defines as a "significant interest" (over 10 per cent) is the Robins Trust. Have they signed on?
That's all I would have hoped for, someone tobuild us a team to identify with, and then start building.paperboy wrote: ↑21 Jun 2025, 17:57 DB interview today.

I'm so glad that I put a timestamp at the start of our latest podccast
Seriously, this does seem like really positive news, without getting carried away. As Robin says, he comes across as a safe pair of hands, but also prepared to give the club a leg up.
Let's hope we get through this period of exclusivity with no hitches.
